HI all,

In installed studio 14 ultimate collection on windows 7 64 and everything worked like a dream. Within a couple of hours i had an 8 minute HD movie with transitions, titles and backing music all working GREAT. I burned to disk and to file and all was so smooth and quick.

I started thinking about voice overs for a couple of sections of the movie and that's when things started going wrong.

I clicked the voice over tool and tried to record a section of voice over but found that :-

1. this was the first time i had used the microphone and although the pc seemed to recognise that i had a microphone on my headset linked into the front plate on my pc it wouldn't record from it. I've also not been able to record from the windows recorder app either - so there probably is something wrong somewhere (mic is NOT muted on headphone cable).
2. Since trying this i now have no audio playback during preview of the project or of music files or anything else within studio 14.
3. sounds work fine in other applications - media centre plays fine, windows notifications work ok but sudio 14 is silent
4. I've rebooted, closed and opened no good.
5. this happened onec before and i found the master volume slider under the preview window had gone to min - but this time, this is not the problem.
6. I've checked the mute status of the different tracks and all is open.
7. I can see the stereo indicators top right of the time line flicking with audio - likewise the audio screen which shows speakers etc shows audio output.

I'm stuck - any idea of anything else to try. Unistall and reinstall seem most sensible but i don't want to take this step until last resort.

i perhaps obviously.. fixed this by upgrading the ati audio drivers on the motherboard.

This brought audio back in studio previews and fixed my problem with the microphone recording.

fingers crossed the audio keeps working within studio.
