    Studio Movie Box question

Will Studio movie box software be upgraded to version 14 soon? With only a few days of use of the version 14 trial I'd like to purchase movie box with 14. The website description doesn't say anything and one enlarged picture on movie box plus shows the software to be version 12.  Thanks.

I'm sure this will happen in the future, I'm just not sure when it will become a reality. Sorry for not being too helpful. I'll post any updates that I may find.

UPDATE: I've learned from sales that you can get an Studio 14 upgrade for free with Movie box. Contact our sales team at 866-446-0833. Click here.

    Re: Studio Movie Box question

Thanks for the link to Pinnacle's six holiday savings specials and got Studio 14 Ultra and MovieBox Plus for $99. Makes me happy and at a comfortable price. I just hope the MovieBox USB box works with no problems with Windows 7 64 bit.I'll post when I get the package and install. I hope I can retire my Studio 9 version in XP to utiltilize the DC10+ PCI card. This will be my last need to have to run Windows XP as far as my hardware and software goes. I was a XP die hard until I came from Windows 7 RC to the release version. Seven PC's upgraded and just love 7!!! PS Using Windows 7, a OCZ Vertex SSD, Eboostr beta 4 and Studio 14 trial has been awsome as far as performance on my Q6600 quad, Gigabyte P35C-DSeR motherboard with 8G of DDR2-800 ram. I make my finished movie projects in record time. I'd like to make these recommendations to other Studio users looking to speed up their projects. By the way would I have been better off ordering the MovieBoard package to use the PCI movieboard instead of the USB option: I've heard the PCI card version is more stable???

    Re: Studio Movie Box question

There is still much testing that needs to be done for the PCI capture devices with Windows 7. It has come to my attention that a few users were having problems with BSODs and instability. Let me get back to you on that.

    Re: Studio Movie Box question

I have also bought the Studio Movie Box Ultimate a couple of weeks ago. I was disappointed when I opened the box and found Studio 12 software inside. I was able to get an "Almost free" upgrade to Studio 14 (had to pay $14.95) after about an hour discussion with Customer service. Two weeks later they are advertising the upgrade as FREE. That is a little frustrating!!

My question is the USB device funtioning with Win 7 - has anyone tried it yet? or is there a driver update out there some place? I have an upgrade for WIN 7 for my new computer but have not loaded it yet. Checking out all the driver updates required.

Also when they sent me the Studio 14 software all they sent me was a one DVD disk in a sleeve. I have no clue if this is an upgrade or what. No instructions - no software key. Should I load the Studio 12 first with it's software key and then load Studio 12 after? But I have no software key for this disk. Any suggestions?

I have been a Studio user since version 8. I also had the PCI card with the Blue Box attachment. This upgrad process has been a little frustrating.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. I have a wedding show I need to get started on soon and I wanted to get familar with Studio 14 before I started that project.

You can still use Windows vista drivers for Windows 7. For the software, you don't need to install 12 if you only want 14. Install 14 and follow the prompts. That should get you started.

    Re: Studio Movie Box question

Now that I have Studio Ultimate 14 installed with the 510-USB hardware box I haven't had major issues installed with Windows 7 64. A couple of things I have had problems with is if my screensaver engages with Studio open in the capture funciton I loose any video preview and a feature I miss from previous versions is the ability to adjust on the fly the brightness/contrast and such. Studio 14's submenu that you can get to for these adjustments is a one time deal that you must adjust and exit to capture unless I've missed something. With my analog captures I've always needed realtime adjustments when I get to especially dark scenes and such. Since version 12 and 14 can coexist together I decided to install the version 12 Plus I received with Movie Box. Well now here's were the trouble begins. Upon capture my preview screen looks awful. Now if I exit and switch to Studio 14 my preview captures look just fine. So this tells me that Studio 14 and the hardware 510-USB are functioning fine. I'm wondering whats the issue with Studio 12? For grins I booted over to the XP drive on my system and installed Studio 12 and did the correct reboot and plugging in of the 510-USB hardware. I get the same video distortion in the preview capture window. I would blame the hardware if it didn't work correctly with Studio 14. Guess I'll research the forum for possible other's occurences with this.

**Note** I found the issue with video preview window showing poor video capture in version 12. I did not have the VCR Input box checked in the Capture Source Setup Options. I would have never guessed! Being an old version 9 with the DC10+ board user I don't recall this being an issue. Learn something everyday! Hope this helps others. Could anyone still give me an answer about version 14's capture window not allowing the ability to adjust the brightness/contrast ect while capturing? Thanks

    Re: Studio Movie Box question

I noticed that while I would just preview the incoming video I could make adjustments to the additonal settings. Once I started capturing and would bring up the additional settings window again the adjustments are fixed until I would stop recording or click the reset in the window if I'd changed anything to put it back to default. That's what I miss from version 9, 10 and 12 in that I could make these adjustments while recording. Am I wrong or are your adjustments limited like I've mentioned? Thanks.

    Re: Studio Movie Box question

I have tried capturing, and I can adjust the settings while capturing. So far I used dazzle, I will try it using 510 or 710. I'll post my findings.
