Studio 14 Does Not Recognize 3rd Party Capture Devices

Studio 14 only supports pinnacle capture devices.  Any 3rd party devices I've been told by pinnacle support will not work.

I have a brand new Hauppauge USB  capture device,  Works with Studio 12 can't  find the device with Studio 14

Well, Hauppauge bought the PCTV products from Avid/Pinnacle at the begining of the year, so it seems odd that Avid now wants to buy Hauppauge. Where did you learn about this?

    Jeff,

Only 4 days old on the new 14, but after such a great impression of its "Solidness" and ease of use... I too was dissappointed to not be able

to identify my haupage card.  It works just fine with the Roxio, I have, but sorely miss the clean ability to import/capture

directly into pinnacle.  I also have stand-alone DVR which create DVD VR files, so I can still xfer my old HI-8 tapes into it then to the

    PC>Pinnacle.   So sighhhhh.....'

BTW,did couple hundred hours with the old Pin 8, but this 14 is the "cats pajamas".

Sorry to hear about not being able to use your Haupage card. You can still use it externally and import the capture files into S14 right?

    Marc,

If I'm understanding the S-14 guides correctly you have to use the Pinnacle

    hardware to do the capture.

Yes, ideally Pinnacle capture hardware (supported ones at least) are best for capturing into Studio. But with regards to your card, I'm sure you got some sort of software to use to capture along with it and most likely It's captured videos can be imported to 14 for further edits.

I've also heard on the forum that the PCI-700 card won't run on 64-bit Windows (no drivers).

QUESTION:  If a person wanted to run 64-bit Windows (XP, or Vista, or especially Win7), what capture options are available for Studio?  I already have a PCI-700 card and like it.

Ah, but that's a firewire/DV device, so it will work until Pinnacle decide we don't need DV capture....

My PCI-700 runs on 64 bit W7. There are drivers, but I think some people are getting a BSOD if they have more than 2GB of RAM installed (which is rather the point of using a 64-bit OS)

Yes, that was it.  Sorry for the lack of details on my part.  It was a topic that caught my attention one day, but since it's not an area current concern, the details quickly faded.

As you said, that ( >2GB RAM) is the point of 64-bit.  So for most practical purposes, it doesn't really work in most 64-bit systems.  What, I have to shut down and physically extract all my memory modules except for one?  Hopefully I buy it in 2GB sticks.

    Pinnacle really should address this.

So it's time to put all the PCI devices on ebay......

And anyway, If Pinnacle can't be arsed bothered to support PCI, when will they stop supporting DV/Firewire? How soon before they decide that analogue capture isn't a job that the wonderful "Importer" can cope with at all? USB? Who cares?

Does the 710 work with your 6GB config?

Yes, clearly. But it's the USB, not the PCI......

Re: Studio 14 Does Not Recognize 3rd Party Capture Devices

Hi, I have a Turtle Beach Video Advantage PCI Capture board installed in my computer. Studio 12 recognizes and captures from this board with no problems. Studio 14 does not find any capture devices. Does this mean I have to buy another board (from Avid/Pinnacle) in order for Studio 14 to capture video? Also, I need FireWire capture capability which my current board has already. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Studio 14 Does Not Recognize 3rd Party Capture Devices

If Studio 12 is still installed you can capture to S12 then import the video on PS14, If your Turtle Beach Video Advantage PCI Capture, has a capture software you can also use to capture then import to Studio 14.
