    S14 DL Burn in PAL???

Ive made a few movies with S14 and so far have been pleased with the outcome.

I have a bunch of VCR converted AVI's that I wanted to create a movie out of.  I loaded everything up fine, added a menu and burned the movie under 8.7GB DL format.  I wrote to disk and did not burn a DVD (S12 cured me of that problem).

Anyhow - everything looked good, I used DVD Shrink to create an ISO file, wrote to a blank DVD and popped it into my DVD Player.  I got a msg that I could not play a DVD from this 'Region' though it didnt indicate what the exact region issue it was.

I took the DVD down and popped it into my PS3 and got an error that PAL DVD's could not be played on the unit (I live in the US and hence need NTSC).

I 'made' the movie again checking any and all settings under my control and cannot figure out why I am burning a 'PAL' DVD?  My Porject settings are for 1920x1080/60.  My VCR is an NTSC and I have burned other movies with these files before..............

Is this a S14 problem?  Is there something I can change in the .IFO file to make this an 'NTSC' DVD?

Funny thing is I was able to watch the DVD in my old XBOX - it didnt complain at all?

In the Project Preferences pane of Studio, what do you have selected in the Project Format section.

If the 'Use this format for new projects' is ticked, is NTSC selected.

Otherwise check what the format is on the timeline when you add the first clip.

    ADDED

That's with the mouse on the black bar just above the orange one

Re: S14 DL Burn in PAL???

    The Format was set to

    1920x1080/60i

The black bar says 720x576 PAL Standard 4:3

WTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - I dont have a PAL device in my house........This is a family VCR video tape ripped into an AVI file.

How the heck do I change this?  I have 21 chapters so rebuilding this is going to be a pain.............

Re: S14 DL Burn in PAL???

I created a enw project and dumped a few files in - it reads NTSC correctly.  When I was building this Studio took a major dump and lost all the menu entries - they magically came back after a restart however I wonder if it didnt corrupt itself................There has to be a way to change this to NTSC?  All the AVI clips are 720x480 MPEG-2 29.97 FPS

Re: S14 DL Burn in PAL???

In the Setup>Project Preferences>Project Format, choose the Use this format for new projects radio button, and set your desired NTSC format.  Next cut-and-paste your "PAL" project into a new project.*  This may not convert your menu and chapter markers properly, but it is worth a try.

    *  To cut-and-paste a project do the following:

    1.  In your PAL project, place the cursor in the timeline and Select All (Ctrl+A)

    2.  Copy the project (Ctrl+C)

    3.  Open a new project (Ctrl+N)

    4.  Place the cursor into the timeline and paste the contents of the clipboard into the new project (Ctrl+V).   Geeked

Good thought - Paste isnt available once you do a 'new project' :(

Re: S14 DL Burn in PAL???

Yah, that's a known limitation.  You can't paste if there is a change in framerate.  Sad

Re: S14 DL Burn in PAL???

You could import the PAL dvd into studio and set it as NTSC. Though expect possible quality loss. Otherwise you will need to redo the project. Unfortunately.
