I am trying to import a 4-5gb .avi file recorded from Virtual Dub with the huffyuv codec but studio keeps giving it a blue question mark. Also, my Dazzle 100 is not recognized by Studio 12 when using the S-video. I can record in S-video with Virtual Dub but not Studio.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

I do know that recent versions of Studio are hit-and-miss (and mostly miss) with HuffYUV.  Can you output using DV AVI (there is a Panasonic DV AVI codec that you can find for installation on your computer to allow for DV AVI output), or MJPEG?  If you use high-enough quality on MJPEG, it should be pretty clean.

I'm not sure where to find the DV AVI codec you're talking about but I will try mjpeg. I know that I've been using huffyuv for a while now and it has been about 80% for smaller clips but this is the longest clip I have tried and it doesn't work with Studio 12.

Please give your system specs, whether it is 32 or 64 bit Vista (if you use vista), them amount of RAM in your system, the HDD space you had left, and whether you've read the threads talking about the S-Video problem when doing capture.

I assume you are capturing using composite (yellow+red+white) cables in VirtualDub on your computer? Is that true?

Bittman: FYI, the StudioMovieBox USB-710 works fine on my computer to capture. I am using composite cables & not the S-Video. Input via front & output to TV through the back.

However, the DVC170 will not capture. I am still investigating this, and will report back to the forums when I get an answer.
