Re: Windows 7 and Studio 12

I would create a dual boot and put Studio on a separate XP drive.

Re: Windows 7 and Studio 12

I never saw anywhere in the documentation that stated that S12 would work with W7. But I did see the documentation stating that the new version of S14 "is" listed as being W7 certified.

Pinnacle does seem to give a crap, they made S14 compatible with XP.

I am not sure but I thought you could run programs in XP Mode on Windows 7. I believe you have to download the optional patch from Microsoft. But I believe that should take care of it for you. Let me know. I am thinking about bumping up to Windows 7 myself.

If you have Windows 7 pro you should be able to run everything that XP can. I've ordered the pro version for that exact reason.

Not necessarily.  For example, if "what you're running" requires hardware drivers, and those drivers have not been released for Vista/Win7, you're still going to have problems.

Re: Windows 7 and Studio 12

Sorry to hear you guys are having problems running Studio 12 on Windows 7!

I got Windows 7 Home Premium yesterday and have today installed Studio 12.. and I have just finished producing a movie with it without incident!  I am NOT running it in XP, or any other, compatibility mode.

What kind of problems are you getting?  Have you installed the v12.1 update?  I admit I haven't tried it on W7 without the update, so maybe that's the answer?

Good luck all... If I CAN help, I certainly will!

Interestingly enough, I'm running XP Pro. I know for a fact that it runs lots of programs that W7 can't. Confused

Re: Windows 7 and Studio 12

I'd think that if your system is capable of running vista with no issue then you'll be fine to run Win 7.  Btw, I've ran S 12.1 Ultimate on Win7 with no issue. That was even the beta Win 7.

And since Ron hasn't been here in 11 days (as shown in his profile), I'm wondering who's the one not giving a crap.

I hope he's still in the process of making things work and that he gets back with us with an update.

Re: Windows 7 and Studio 12

I hope to hear a response as well. I'm sitting here looking at a new Windows 7 Home Premium box, which BTW doesn't have the Windows XP compatibility (virtualization) options that MS included in Win7 Professional and above (if what I understand is correct), and contemplating installing Studio 10 and all my FX\Premium Packs...and then upgrading to Studio 11 Plus and Ultimate. And my ultimate goal is a purchase\upgrade to Studio 14 Ultimate Collection. Would really be a load of crap if Pinnac\e\Avid was not supporting MS latest Operating System.

You have to download the Virtual XPmode for windows7, http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx and follow the stages. I'm using Win7 Ultimate 64bit and studio 12 works fine for me. Hope this helps.

Nice. I didn't know M$ came up with this. I'm trying it out on the lab right away.
