Can't import Declic into Studio 14

Help..Just tried to download some of the Declic HFX transitions for Studio 14...did the download OK, but when I opened them I got the dreaded Error message. I did check, and they did not open. Is this a known problem? (I hope not...use them frequently !...or at least I did with 10)

Re: Can't import Declic into Studio 14

Did you follow the instructions on the Delic site on how to install. HFX affects are cached upon the first time you start studio. You have to manually delete this cache directory so the next time you start studio it can rebuild it, and include the new effects into it's list. Look here for instructions.

Re: Can't import Declic into Studio 14

I really don't think that is the problem..I'm used to doing that with S10. The problem is that when I open the zip with hfz I get an error message for each line .  The Declic (as well as the other HFX effects and transitions ) transferred over from S 10 with no problem.

Additional...anyone else have any thoughts on this ? As I said, the HFX and Declic hfx I had in Studio 10 transferred over to Studio 14 with no problem....I just cannot download any new Declic items..and it bugs me

Which kind of error message ? Did you try a "repair" ?

Re: Can't import Declic into Studio 14

There is an error message on each line of the opened download..."Error unable to install file''

I'm not sure what you mean by a 'repair'...a new install of S14?

Update on this. I went into the actual folder in HFX 6.0 and found out that my 'Install' HFZ application was corrupted , so I downloaded the one from your site Declic (Thank you!!)

That seems to have solved half the problem. I can now download HFX from Declic, but I now have another challenge. When I do the 'remove Editor and EffectsCache' and remove the contents (but not folder) of HfxXML, I cannot get any HFX to regenerate into my transitions album...even the most basic HFX...only 2D and Alpha transitions (and Adorage) show up. I am able to restore from the recycle bin, but the fact that the files are not regenerating is scary. Anyone have any thoughts on this? (of course I can always use the Declic transitions by clicking on the edit button, but that isn't half the fun of just dragging the transition down, but the lack of regeneration bothers me)

OK, looks like there were some squirrelly pathways that I had to follow to remove the Editor Cache and Effects Cache. For some reason I had more than one set...along a couple of different paths. In any case, I did manage to get everything restored. Thanks Declic. You pointed me down the correct path and of course thanks to LooseCannon for your explanations on declic's site.

For your information, you can also download our BATCH file (Repare-HFX...) which is doing this automatically.

Re: Can't import Declic into Studio 14

I was going to do that, but does your repair send the items to the recycle bin or totally delete them? I know there was a similar batch in Studio 10, but it completely deleted the items. The first time I tried it I ran into a major problem because nothing regenerated. I had to go through a complete new install. At least if items are sent to the recycle bin, and there is a problem, I can restore from the recycle bin. (I always empty the re-cycle bin before I do the work so all I have in there are the EditorCache, EffectCache, and the HFX)
