Date and time stamp for HDV clips

Date and time stamp for HDV clips

Studio has always preserved the original date and time of each detected scene during capture, and assigned those data to the clip properties.  But not now with the Canon HV10 and HV20 hi-def cameras, it seems.  Is this a bug in Studio capturing HDV, or is it a bug in the Canon HD camera line?  This information can be very important in organizing and editing projects?  If it's a Studio bug, please fix it.

Re: Date and time stamp for HDV clips

I have exactly the same problem with capturing HDV from my SONY HCR-HC7 camcorder.

Really annoying let me say. Can we expect a fix in the short time?

Re: Date and time stamp for HDV clips

I have the same problem with my Canon HV20 and my just purchased Studio 11.1 Ultimate (with all most recent patches).    The time/date stamps are very sorely missed as I set my home movie titles using them - please give this one a high priority to get fixed.

Re: Date and time stamp for HDV clips

Also, the checkbox option ( marker ) for used clips for AVCHD clips inserted in own movie is missing, it would be nice to organize and check this, because if U have more clips in film it's hard ( time wasting ) to get checked which clip has been used.

And....when(if Hmm) the date/time stamp is restored, it would also be nice if the option to "Detect Scenes by Shooting Time and Date" would also be restored.

Re: Date and time stamp for HDV clips

I have recently upgraded to a Canon XH-A1 and my wife now has a Canon HV30 and I find the missing Date & Time Stamp for HDV clips an irritation.

    Please "sort it" Pinnacle.

Re: Date and time stamp for HDV clips

In the meantime you can use HDVsplit to capture HDV. It won't help for AVCHD though.

Re: Date and time stamp for HDV clips

I should have added that HDVsplit creates separate clip files for each scene and names the files according to the shooting date and time. You can see the filenames and hence shooting times and dates.

I have just bought Studio 12 Ultimate and have exactly the same problem.

If you don't fix it I will have to change software.

Re: Date and time stamp for HDV clips

Studio 12 does NOT solve the problem!  HELP!  It's taking me at least twice as long to integrate my multiple camera footage.  Without seeing where each camera is at what exact time, I have a real problem

PLEASE Studio people, help us out here.

    Thanks

Re: Date and time stamp for HDV clips

If I had to guess, I'd say that the HDV standard my not support date/time stamping like DV. Because HDV is really nothing more than MPEG2 with a higher bandwidth.

Re: Date and time stamp for HDV clips

Anny update on this, I paid god money for this product and that it preserves shooting date time is in my opinion a requirement for a video editing program that is not free.

And this is a problem with Pinnacle Studio not with the HDV standard. HDV Splitt can do this just fine

Re: Date and time stamp for HDV clips

I too have this problem.  I just upgraded from 11 to 12 plus last night.  I captured video this morning and no date stamp!  Also, just like patndave above, "Detect Scenes by Shooting Time and Date" is not working for me either.  Does anyone know if there is a fix for this?  I did not have this problem with 11 with the same camera.  I patched it last night right after installing, so I have version 12.1.3.

Pinnacle, any help on this, or words of hope?

    Hi Pinnacle,
I support the request to make the date and time stamp for HDV footage visible within Studio !!

Re: Date and time stamp for HDV clips

I agree, this problem needs to be fixed.  It shouldn't be hard to make label the clips with the date and time they were recorded, the information is already there and studio already labels the clips, just make the label be the time and date.

    This needs to be fixed!

Re: Date and time stamp for HDV clips

Not sure if this helps, but the new version of DVMP Pro can add the start date and time to existing HDV file names. It can also do this for AVCHD and MOD files, and DV avi.

You can play HDV or DV files and see the exact date and time (and timecode and camera exposure details) at any point in the file.

At least Studio 14 has solved this problem?

Nope.  Anyone know why this was removed?  I mean if DV can do it, why can't HDV do it. I'll have to check, but I'm fairly certain that if I play an HDV tape back in the camcorder, there is a Date/Time stamp.
