    Re installing 7.2

Due to a drive C: failure, I am re-installing XP and Liquid to a new drive. Fortunately all the projects and current work were on a different drive, so I am hopefull that when I eventually get going it won't be too difficult to pick up where I left off.

I have a file "Avid_Liquid_7.2_Full_Upgrade.zip" which I downloaded in July 2007. Is this still the latest version for use with the BOB?  As this file is the "upgrade", do I need to install anything else first to upgrade from or will it install from just that file?

I seem to remember having great difficulty registerning Title Decko Pro when I first installed it. Will I be able to use the same serial number or will I have to register it again. and if so, where/how?

    Re-installing 7.2

I managed to sort out the installation problem by installing 7.0 then the 7.2 upgrade and Liquid started up and worked fine. Also the Title Decko registration was trouble free this time. Other problems have arisen which I have put on another post.

    Re: Re-installing 7.2

The installing procedure is very well described in the troubleshooting thread, only the 7,2 full install file should be used.

    Which Patch to Install 7.2

In past fluctuating work demands meant I was on again off again hobbyist video editor.  Now have more time and want to finally upgrade to Liquid 7.2 to move ahead. I have currently installed Liquid Pro version 7.1 Build 3494 upgrade, SP1 (3581) and at my hobbyist level it is generally working ok. I have been nervous to install 7.2 because of past difficulties with various activation codes and so forth needed with FX Pro and Title Deko Pro as I worked through various Liquid upgrades.

With that background, I would appreciate latest advice about installing 7.2. Tomas mentions use Full Patch to upgrade to 7.2.  However, original guide from Dave Stone (under install, troubleshooting section) cautioned to be careful to use Upgrade Patch and not Full Patch when installing 7.2 with upgrade version of Liquid. I have been away from forum for quite a while (a year or so) and have not reviewed all notes about installing 7.2 so would appreciate latest advice on installing 7.2 on my system and problems I might anticipate with registering FX Pro and Title Deko Pro ( I have noted some links in case I have registration issues with 7.2). In my case I would prefer not to uninstall Liquid and just install 7.2 on top of my existing 7.1 version.

    Thank you,

    Dennis

Re: Which Patch to Install 7.2

I would install the full 7.2 patch here instead of doing incremental installs to get there. All versions prior to 7.2 should be avoided.

    Re: Re-installing 7.2

I just got my computer back after reformatting and reconfiguring my drives. I am reinstalling AVID Liquid 7.0. My disks are "upgrade" disks from a prior Pinnacle product. I am prompted to: hit "shift and install the original Pinnacle Studio disk" and click ok to continue. When I do that it says the required disk cannot be found. Now what?

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

    Re: Re-installing 7.2

Also, upon booting up the computer for the first time I was prompted for the installation files for the BOB. I tried using the AVID installation disk but it didn't find anything there. Any ideas? Will I be prompted again during installation of Avid liquid?

You can install those file manually. See the troubleshooting thread at the top of this section of the forum.

    Re: Re-installing 7.2

Thanks Lew. I followed the troubleshooting instructions and if I understand it correctly, because my version is an uprgade version (from Pinnacle), I need to install Pinnacle Studio 8 before I download the Liquid Upgrade patch. Does that sound right? i have no desire for Stuio to exist on this machine.

    Re: Re-installing 7.2

I don't see where it said that anywhere in the thread. What you have to do is install the driver for the Pro BOB seperately because your serial number is not a Pro serial. The instructions for how to do that from your Liquid install disc are in that thread under the heading "Installing the Pro BOB drivers".

    Re: Re-installing 7.2

The 7.2 upgrade installation continues to Abort and requires me to have 7.1 intalled in order to upgrade to 7.2. I cannot find an upgrade patch that will uprgrage my 7.0 to 7.1.

     Where might I find this?

    Re: Re-installing 7.2

There is a complete install of 7.2 here. You do not need any previous version to install this patch. Use your 7.x serial number.

Re: Re-installing 7.2 on to the next problem

I downloaded the full upgrade that Lew suggested (thank you Lew). It seemed to wrok fine, however I'm back to my original problem: I'm being asked to hold down the shift key and insert the original Pinnacle Liquid v.5.x, 6.x etc. and hit Ok to continue or cancel to abort. My problem is that I upgraded from Pinnacle Studio 8. I insert thatdisk and I'm told that the required CD could not be found. Now what?

Re: Re-installing 7.2 on to the next problem

If you have problems installing Liquid because it cannot verify your original disk, download this patch.

Begin installing the full upgrade. Cancel the install when you are asked for the CD.
    Then run the patch.
Finally run the Setup 7.2 again.

Re: Re-installing 7.2 on to the next problem

The download and the patch might not work when you are comming from a Studio 8 disc. In case the patch does not help, please send me a PM with your Studio 8 and Liquid 7 serial, or contact support.
