    Re: Studio 12 Capture problem

I assume this is analog video, not digital. There may be some way to improve the capture to eliminate the noise. Perhaps it is a tracking problem with the video playback. I am not an expert in the area, so perhaps someone else will respond.

However, if you cannot improve the original capture, you can use Stuido's zoom feature to crop out the noise.

    Re: Studio 12 Capture problem

It is normal to have switching transients at the bottom of the picture when viewing or capturing hi 8 or vhs video. These don't normally show on a standard tv, but they do on the new digital screens. You can either enlarge the picture very slightly and center it down, or you can use a blank title mask to cover it. There are several threads on the forum discussing this. You might do a search for "switching noise" or something like that.

It will be under Video Effects. I should be one of the Standard RTFX options.

Double-Click on Scene in Timeline / Select Plug symbol in "Pop-Up" / Add Video Effect / Category / Standard RTFX / Effect / Pan and Zoom.

    Re: Studio 12 Capture problem

This is something no one will tell you and it made all the difference in the world for me.  I had twenty years of family VHS to digitize and they were coming out like you say.  The answer was to import from VHS player (Your case another camera) to a Sony camera and then out to the computer.  Sony has a better codec for exporting with no noise or frame loss.
