Hi, I need some help. I purchased a Dazzle DVD recorder to move my VHS tapes
from tape to DVD. While the Pinnacle "Instant DVD Recorder" software appears
to be pretty simple to use, I'm not having any luck.
Problem:
The first time I tried to do this, I burned a DVD with about 10 minutes of video
capture. When I played back the DVD that audio was over 12 seconds behind the
video. So I decided to copy from VHS to my hard drive while I checked the various
features in the Pinnacle program. Then check the video. Figuring once I get a good
copy of 3 to 10 minutes from tape, I'll try a hole movie. Then after I've captured the
video, I plan on coping it to dvd. But so far I have not gotten the audio to sync with the
video.
System Configuration:
My system is an emachine T2542 with an Intel Celeron processor at 2.5 GHZ.
I have upgraded the memory to 1.5 GB of ram and upgraded the HD to a 150GB
drive with about 90GB free space and a swap(page) file set to a fixed 1.5GB.
The computer appears to have an Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/CV Graphics Controller
with 64MB video ram (DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) set to 1024x768.
The Dazzle unit I purchased is White - DVC 100 rev 1.1.
I'm running an upgrade of the OS to XP Pro (32bit) SP3. I'm using a Toshiba Model
W-603 VHS VCR to play back the VHS tapes and composite video cables connected
from the line-out plugs into the Dazzle, and the Dazzle unit plugged into a USB Port
on my computer.
What I've tried:
I purchased the Dazzle 2 days ago (Thur. 6/25/09). It came with Pinnacle
2.5.102.0. After I had trouble recording with it, I did a live chat with
Pinnacle Customer support. The told me to do:
1. Move the Dazzle from my USB hub and connect it directly to a USB port on my
computer. Then Reboot. I did that - No change.
2. They told me to download the latest updates to the Pinnacle software. I did,
and am now running version 2.6.116.0 No change.
3. The instructed me to return the unit and get another one. I did.
After installing the new unit, I have the same problem with the new unit. After capturing
the video & audio for a few minutes, and playing it back, the audio starts to lag the video
from after about 2 seconds. At about 4 minutes into the play back, the audio is over 60 behind the video.
4. Chatted with Pinnacle again today (6/28/09). The told me to unload the USB
drivers and get new ones (PCLEUSB2x32.exe). I did. Then I disconnected the
Dazzle unit, loaded them, rebooted, reconnected the Dazzle and tried to capture
5 minutes of video from a VHS tape. The audio still lags the video after about
2 seconds of play back.
5. They asked me to remove and reload the main program which I did to no avail.
In trying to figure out the problem, I've turned off my antivirus realtime protection
program, disabled my wireless network card, and had NO applications running but
Pinnacle. None of this has made any difference.
This is the only computer I have so I haven't tried to load the software and connect
the hardware to a different computer.
