    Best add on or plug

    Hi guys

I have been reading some of the forum subjects. Wow you guys sure know your stuff. There is an amazing amount of Pinnacle knowledge out there.

My question is -- If you had to purchase one add on item or one plug in or purchase one item of software to enhance your editing in Studio -

    What would that be?

I am new at this and it would be helpful, to have you the experts, giving this advise.

What piece of external software do you most use with Pinnacle Studio 11 or 12?

    Thank you in advance.

    cheers

Nero (6). From the TS image that Studio makes, you can burn DVDs with Nero

    • Nero will automatically verify after writing
    • If there is a failure at the burn stage, you get better error messages
    • If you burn a short DVD, Nero will add longer run-outs, increasing compatibility
    • Nero will take advantage of burners that can bit-set and produce what appear to be pressed DVDs
    • I have greater confidence in Nero's ability to burn DVDs
Version 6 came with a burner - I upgraded to a full version. Version 7 got a reputation for bugs, so I stuck with 6. They have got to version 9 now

PROdad's Heroglyph, to both of your questions. You can purchase it as either a Plugin or Standalone or both. prodad.com. It's sold as a Titling Prog (S12 Ultimate's Boris Graffitti, is it's poorer cousin). However it's much more than just a Titling Prog & you're only limited by your imagination.

It's expensive & has a fairly high learning curve & the German to English translation is pretty awful. However I've had it for many years & have used it in all of my productions. Best Prog I've ever purchased & wouldn't be without it.

Have a look ar PROdad's WebSite Demos.

Declic Video is a Re-seller & has Demos & Tutorials (Link to follow, in this Post).

Ditto to Jeff's Post above re: Nero.

ADDED - LINK to Declic's Tutorials. Some excellent info in that Thread re: Video Editing.

Bluff Titler. A great program with free updates and the cost is dirt cheap. I have had it since the DV500 days. Here is the Link.

ProDAD Adorage, Effect Package disc 10. A lot of effects.

    Question to JJN:

What are the steps that you follow to burn a DVD from a Studio created image (Video TS) using NERO?

The final DVD burned using Nero, it is better quality that the one done using Studio 12?

The menus work as seen on Studio timeline?

    Thank you

Re: Best add on or plug

    Question to JJN:

The Nero package has many parts, Its only the DVD burning function that I use.

I use Studio's  DVD creation option "Create Disc content but don't burn" to make a Video_TS folder that contains the DVD image. At this point I can use any DVD player software to check for problems.

I then use Nero Burning Rom and start a new Video-DVD. I drag the contents of the Video_TS that was created by Studio into the Video_TS folder within the the Nero application. I select the options I require with Nero Burning ROM (slow burning speed, verify when done, use bit setting) and then burn the DVD in Nero.

The DVD appears to function exactly as it would if made with Studio, "quality" being a function of the bitrate used to create the image in Studio. All Nero does is take over the last stage - writing Studio's files to DVD. I use Nero for the aformentioned reasons  and because there was a time with my prevoius burner, Studio 9 and Verbatium discs where I struggled to make DVDs that didn't skip. Using Nero didn't solve the issue, but it's better error messages pointed the finger at first the media and then the burner.

Re: Best add on or plug

    Thank you very much JJN:

Following the way you create DVD using Nero was easy. It was faster than Studio but unfortunally the problem I was trying to fix or isolate was recreated also by Nero on the final DVD.

Probably is something in Studio when a Moving Menu is created.

    Thank you again.

Re: Best add on or plug

If the error occurs when you play the Video TS folder created by Studio using a software player on your computer, then burning with a different program isn't going to fix anything.

Does the error occur in that manner? Otherwise, does the error occur on more than one DVD player?

Re: Best add on or plug

    Hi JJN:

Thank you for your interest. I created a Moving Menu that I already used it several times with no problem.

Using this Menu in a 2 DVD  and 2 BD discs project (the same menu with different chapters is used on each disc), all the video used on the project is HD and the client asked for DVD's and BD's discs.

No problem with the Menu playing the BD discs 1 & 2, the problem is that when the customer plays DVD 1 on the BD player the Menu does not move it is static, the same Menu in DVD 2 plays fine.

When DVD 1 is played in a regular DVD player the Menu works fine. I re-created more than six times the menu with the same results.

Because the Menu on DVD 1 works fine on DVD players but not in BD player I decided to burn the same image with Nero to see if it makes any difference, but I got the same result.

    Thank you
