Content creation date is not imported through capture

    Hello,

    Greeting to all users!.

I am a new user to this forum. I am using STUDIO-8.12 to capture video from Panasonic Mini-DV camera. Capture process went through fine, but I don't see video content date captured.

Am I missing any setup or configuration ? Is it limitation of studio 8.12?

I know this is desupported product. Appreciate any assistance on this.

    Regards,

    Debadatta

Re: Content creation date is not imported through capture

It's a limitation of all versions of Studio. The content date isn't part of the video image - it's separate data that isn't burned onto the video. This gives you the option when playing back from camera to show, or not show, the date/time

That information is still intact on the tape, and also when you capture in into your computer with Studio. If you want to display it, you have to actually burn in onto the video (and you won't be able to "unburn" it, either). Unfortunately, Studio doesn't do this.

Do you really want the capture information burned onto all your videos? IMHO it might be better just to add a title at the top of each clip with the capture info. You will have to do this manually. However, if you do want to burn the info onto the video (you can always keep the tape if you want to get a clean version) there are at least two workarounds.
    • Use an analogue capture device to capture the video output from the camera (introducing quality loss) with the capture date displaying
    • Use a free utility called DVDate to burn the capture date/time onto the file once you have captured it.
I don't think other DV editing software allows this either. Which is probably why someone wrote DVDate Wink

and welcome to the forum Smile

We have been informed of this issue, and we are working on how to integrate this feature to our products. Thanks for tip, jjn. DVDate saves the day for this issue.
