Video Capture for Mac - No Mono Sound?

    Hi,

I recently acquired the Video Capture for Mac because I wanted to convert my old 8mm camcorder video to digital.  My old Sanyo camcorder only has two RCA out (it's mono) so when I plugit in the yellow and white RCA jack of the Dazzle, the video does come out, but I get no sound.  I have check the Preference Pane for Sound and I can't get any activity on the meter.

Do I have to buy a splitter to get the audio out of one RCA jack to the two RCA IN of the Dazzle to get sound?

    Thanks!

Try capturing anyways. It may be a preview issue only - meaning, it appears that the sound is not being captured, but you will hear it in the created file.

If there is no audio on the captured file, connect the audio to the red port.

I have never encountered a problem similar to yours. But using a Female RCA (Phono) to Stereo/Mono (dual) Male RCA should be do the trick.

Re: Video Capture for Mac - No Mono Sound?

Yesterday night I found the source of the problem.  Even though I'm not on Leopard yet, there is a bug in the software that prevents sound to be "activated" as other software (namely USBVision & VisualFX) have sound enabled.  This rules out the Dazzle having a problem.

Searching through Google pointed to me to an article on Apple discussion where the dude said he check the Troubleshooting section of Pinnnaclesys.com and found the answer.  As wise as he is, he did not say what it was Confused...

So I looked and searched through the pinnaclesys.com help and found this article :  http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9018568#9018568

So basically, even if you are not on Leopard, get the Video Capture for Mac patch for Leopard (available here).

I basically have no knowledge with Macs, but this is very helpful. Thanks for sharing this with us. The links are great.
