Problems Installing Dazzle DVC170 Software on Vista.

Ok I've installed the 10.8 Studio patch and is working fine, I can access Studio 10 but it cannot detect the Dazzle DVC170.

So I ran the Vista Driver and when installing it came up the error "IDS_DIFX_X86"

    Any suggestions?

Did you install S10 using the Vista Installer before patching?

Do you have 32 0or 64 bit Vista?

The DVC170?  Pinnacle hasn't supplied any Vista64 drivers for that device, have they?

If it's the DVC107, you'd be in luck (link), but the DVC170 isn't supported at all in Vista64, as far as I can tell.

    Is it?

What's *really* galling is that the Dazzle Video Creator Platinum package was mentioned in the "Pinnacle Vista Pledge",  and was supposedly supported in Windows Vista back in March '07, IIRC.  However, that was Vista 32 bit...and Pinnacle has evidently decided that "Being compatible with Windows Vista in 2007" (as the old Vista pledge stated) didn't extend to Vista64.

I have a DVC170 as well, and this afternoon tried to set it up to use on my new Vaio notebook running 64-bit Vista. You can guess the rest. Sad

Obviously, I would really like to know whether Pinnacle intends to provide a driver.

Does anyone know, or is there a good way to find out?

At the back of my mind, 170 and 107 might be using similar (not exactly the same) chip. I do not have the 107 yet Sad

So IMHO, it would not hurt to install the 64 bit Vista 107 driver from here even if you have 170. Embarrassed

However, to be on a safe side, create restore point first.  Smile

There are no official releases yet for DVC 170, but like what was mentioned above, it maybe worth a shot.

PCLEUSB2_fan and Marc, thanks. I might give it a try... already restored once over this, one more time wouldn't hurt. :)

Did it work?  I've been waiting about 2 months now, but Pinnacle hasn't appeared to be doing anything for the DVC170 crowd.   And they are STILL SELLING it at various outlets, but the PC''s are 64 bit!!!  If you didn't know the difference, you would be royally screwed!!!

I mean, come on Pinnacle, how HARD can it be to create a new driver for the DVD170???    You created the software and hardware..... sheesshhh...

Just like any software/hardware manufacturer, they have limited control on the stocks of these retail stores. Unless Pinnacle has their own retail outlets like Gateway used to have Indifferent

Considering that they have released Vista 64 compatible drivers for Moviebox(after the long wait), I can imagine that they will be releasing 64 bit drivers for DVC 100/170. Wink

Or maybe this is just wishful thinking Sad

I'm sure they're working on it. If this does not work then it should be up before you know it. Shouldn't you be more optimistic being a PCLEUSB32_FAN. Stick out tongue

I am happy to hear that from a Pinnacle Employee. I guess I will keep on hoping Yes.

But the sad part is, they changed the driver's name from PCLEUSB to Pinnacle_Video_Driver_64bit.exe Crying

Re: Problems Installing Dazzle DVC170 Software on Vista.

Do you have 64bit Windows Vista drivers for your Dazzle DVC 100/101/103/107?

I will try to find out why 170 is not included.
