    PCTV HD Card problems

    Hello,

    Comp specs: Vista 64 bit business edition SP1, GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775, q6700 2.6ghz quad core, 8800 512mb GTS, 2gb crucial ballistix 1066 ram.

    Software:  TV center Pro 4.98

I installed the drivers without any problems.  Here's a picture of my device manager:  http://i33.tinypic.com/91dmb7.jpg  However, for both Pinnacle Systems PCTV 800i PCI Audio Capture and Pinnacle Systems PCTV 800i PCI TS Capture it says No drivers are installed for this device.

For both Pinnacle Systems PCTV 800i PCI Audio Capture and Pinnacle Systems PCTV 800i PCI TS Capture, I checked the properties and in driver details it has C:\\Windows\system32\drivers\ksthunk.sys for both of them.

I than installed the software and loaded it up and went to scan the channels.  It only scanned the internet radio while the rest had the status of error.  Here's the picuture to it:  http://i35.tinypic.com/5oav5h.jpg

Also another error I encoutered that says Cannot start TV preview: Unknown exception caught.  Here's the photo to that:  http://i37.tinypic.com/2ijiu52.jpg

Here's a picture when I start the program it gives me a Failed to start preview: http://i36.tinypic.com/28tgaxz.jpg

When I click details I get this:  http://i38.tinypic.com/262lehl.jpg  That probably has to do with the software not being able to scan.

Here's is when I right click on the tv player to go to main than tv: http://i36.tinypic.com/2gxefdy.jpg

I clicked on TV and it gets me this cannot find any available tv device error:  http://i33.tinypic.com/2646yl2.jpg

I clicked yes and pop up this error:  http://i37.tinypic.com/2q1upn4.jpg  After I push Ok the program just crashes.

I tried reinstalling it and uninstalling it and it doesn't work still. I also tried putting it in another PCI slot, but that too didn't work.

Also, when I used the PowerCinema 5 trial software the channels work, I can change channels and watch some tv, although it only lets me watch over the air digital antenna channels.

Can any one help, I talked to the live support and did what they ask, but nothing works?  Thanks.

    Re: PCTV HD Card problems

Go to Settings and then Hardware. Do you see anything on the hardware configuration?  If this is blank, TV Center Pro is not detecting the Tuner properly.  See this site for a resolution.

Also, can you try this one just for test?

Sorry for the delayed response. I have included some notes on the "Read before you post " thread.  We can address your concerns faster if you post on the correct sub-section.

    Moved to PCTV Install.

Here's the photo of the hardware part: http://i37.tinypic.com/2ijiu52.jpg

As you can see, it listed PCTV HD PCI under hardware configuration, but has an error pop up.  I also tried the resolution you posted and the same thing still happens.  I even uninstalled my anti-virus just to see if that was the problem, but the same thing still happens.  I'm using powercinima trial at the moment and I am able to get over the air digital channels only, but no analog, radio, or digital cable, however, that's better than what TVCenter pro did, which failed to scan anything.

Here's the picture of amcap, which gives me an error:  http://i38.tinypic.com/2rhod9h.jpg

    Re: PCTV HD Card problems

As I see it, this can be software related.

Can you take out the hardware and then open the software. Let see if you will get the same error.

    Re: PCTV HD Card problems

Here's pictures I took of the TVCenter pro software without the PCTV PCI Card installed, I removed it from the PCI slot.

Here's a picture of the settings with hardware section picked:  http://i34.tinypic.com/2qkv0ip.jpg

No hardware is listed under hardware configuration because there is no PCTV card in there.

Here's picture when I click scan for tv channels and as you can see only internet radio is listed:  http://i34.tinypic.com/2ynlag7.jpg

A picture of pinnacle tv:  http://i34.tinypic.com/154ttkx.jpg  Options for tv and radio are greyed out.

Here's a picture of the amcap software without the PCTV card in the PCI slot:  http://i33.tinypic.com/2s8205w.jpg

Seems like the softwares are installed correctly since I did not encounter any error.

    Re: PCTV HD Card problems

So there are no errors when you open the software after the hardware was removed?

    Re: PCTV HD Card problems

Yes, there were no errors when I open the software after the hardware was removed.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I am experiencing the EXACT same problem. The errors are identical and I have tried all the same troubleshooting steps. It seems like the card is there. The drivers are installed but the SW is failing to work with it. I'd like to follow this thread and see a resolution to this issue. This card seems to be a nice unit if you can get it working!
