Studio 12 compatabiilty with AV/DV Deluxe?

I recently rebuilt my pc and upgraded to Vista.  Previously, I was using Studio Plus Version 9 that came with the Pinnacle AV/DV Deluxe (capture card with breakout box).  I'm planning on upgrading to the newest version of Studio since the rebuild renders my old version non-compatible.  My question is whether or not the original Studio capture card and breakout box will still be functional, or if I will need to replace them, as well.

    Thanks for any info....

I am using the video card I got with ver 9 and I'm running ver 12 with XP. You'll have to reload your drivers for the card. The card will show up[ with yellow exclamation marks in the computer hardware list. Also, i can't tell you if there are drivers for Vista. I sort of think not.

Re: Studio 12 compatabiilty with AV/DV Deluxe?

    Marc P.:

From the link, it appears that PCI based support in Studio 12 is available for the 700-PCI (a.k.a. Pinnacle Studio Deluxe 2) and the 500-PCI (a.k.a. Pinnacle AV/DV).

Vista has already recognized the card and installed drivers, but lists it as "Pinnacle AV/DV2" in Device Manager.  Should I take that to mean that I have the 700-PCI card?

Naturally, Pinnacle support no longer carries specs of the older products and I can't locate the box to see what card is listed (and chat was unable to help, as well)...

Re: Studio 12 compatabiilty with AV/DV Deluxe?

    Paraphrasing an old Pinnacle FAQ:

The Studio Deluxe comes in 2 different hardware versions.

First, make sure you have a Studio Deluxe card. All Studio Deluxe cards come with a blue break out box. You can tell which version of Studio Deluxe you have by looking at the port position on the back bracket.

If the connector closest to the side with the retaining screw on the Studio Deluxe bracket connects to the blue box (bottom connector is the 1394 port), then you have the newest type of Studio Deluxe card, compatible with <Studio 12>. If you see you have a reversed bracket layout, in which the side closest to the retaining screw is a 1394 connector (bottom connector is the blue box connector), then you have the older Studio Deluxe.

I also *think* (but do not know for sure) that the Version 2 was shipped with Studio 9, while the original Deluxe shipped with earlier versions.

FWIW, I purchased S9 standard version and the capture card towards the latter part of 2003. It was called Studio AV / DV Deluxe. The card that I received was a type 2. I upgraded the software to the "Plus" version at a later date.

Maybe this will help confirm that the AV / DV Deluxe (AKA 700PCI) type 2 capture card was offered with the S9 standard version.

Re: Studio 12 compatabiilty with AV/DV Deluxe?

Well, the breakout box I have is definitely blue with a red cable to the pc.  If the post above yours is correct, then I SHOULD be able to use this card.  The breakout box connector is on the retaining screw side.  So I guess I'm good to go?

Re: Studio 12 compatabiilty with AV/DV Deluxe?

Studio 12 Ultimate doesn't recognize my AV/DV Deluxe (V1, came with S8) on Win XP, but the link above shows it should be supported.

After installing S12, I couldn't capture with S11 (lockup), and S12 didn't offer the Deluxe as a capture choice. So I reinstalled the driver, and now capture works fine in S11, but S12 still doesn't offer Deluxe as a capture choice -- only 1394 (firewire). It's still 12.0, as I've not yet installed the patch (that's coming next week, probably, as I get time).

    Larry,

Have you had a chance to try the 12.1 patch yet?  Did it make any differnce?

Re: Studio 12 compatabiilty with AV/DV Deluxe?

Hi, I've been having the same problem - AV/DV Deluxe V1 definitely does not work with Studio 12.1.

I have tried the hardware installers, 2.0.0.22, 2.0.0.27 and 2.0.0.390. It was this final release where I didn't get any hardware errors in the Device Manager. With the hardware is installed correctly, I fired up Studio 12.1 and it failed to see it.

Re: Studio 12 compatabiilty with AV/DV Deluxe?

Hi Marc, I'm running Windows XP SP3. I raised an issue with Support and was told that Studio 12 does not support Studio AV/DV Deluxe 1.

    Thanks

    Mark.

    Marc;

Several of us, myself included, have experienced the failure of AV/DV Deluxe with ver 12. Mine still works fine with ver 11, but is not recognized in ver 12. I haven't upgraded to  12.1 as of yet so can't speak for that.

Re: AW: Re: AW: Re: Studio 12 compatabiilty with AV/DV Deluxe?

So from what I am reading, my blue capture box will not work with Windows Vista or Studio 12?  My XP machine just died and I don't know what to do now to capture my analog video!

If you have a DV Tape Camcorder with A/V Input, you can Copy A/V tape from either a VCR or A/V Cam, to DV tape in your DV Cam, via A/V Composite leads from VCR or A/V Cam & then Capture the DV tape to your Hard Drive, via Firewire.

Or, if you have a DV Tape Cam with Passthru, you can dispense with the DV tape.

    Anyone-else?
