Scheduled recordings happening at random times

Scheduled recordings happening at random times

I have manually set up recordings to repeat weekly using the TVC Pro. The first week seems to record okay but future weeks record at random times. Sometimes the system records two or three days in a row (at the wrong time) and not on the next scheduled day. The future recordings rarely record at the right time even if they are on the right day. HELP!!! We are using this to record school classes and right now I am very disappointed with this product.

    Thanks,

    Scott

Re: AW: Scheduled recordings happening at random times

Unfortunately, I am at work right now,so I can't pop it up to see. I ran the check for updates approximately one week ago and installed an update it listed that I needed.  Which version should I have? I can ask my wife to check for me.

    Thanks,

    Scott

I forgot to ask about your PCTV hardware, so the version depends on your hardware.

ok, this is the right version.

Can you please be more specific about the source you want to capture; I understand this is not a regular TV setup?

Re: AW: Re: AW: Re: AW: Scheduled recordings happening at random times

I am using the composite input from a satellite receiver. I use the manual programming tool to set up "automatic" weekly recordings twice each week for about two and one-half hours in each block. The scheduled recordings show up correctly in the scheduled recordings tab, however, the actual recording is done at seemingly random times and days once the first week is past. The computer even names the files with the correct date for the recording, sometimes up to a week before the actual date. The computer date and time are correct and the software displays the correct date and time when it starts up. This PC is running Vista Home Basic with all of the latest patches and 3.5 Gig of RAM.

     Thanks,

    Scott

could you try, just as a test, if scheduled recordings work correctly when you record from the tuner?

Unfortunately I do not have an antenna or anything in the vicinity of the computer.

mmh, I can't reproduce your problem here, so we would need to find out, if this only happens with the analog input or with tuner recordings as well, to have a base for further investigation.

Re: AW: Re: AW: Re: AW: Re: AW: Re: AW: Scheduled recordings happening at random times

I'm having the same problem.  I am connected to charter cable, trying to record both hd and sd tv shows.  I have scheduled shows using the epg, and like the previous person said, the date and time on the file are correct, but it is not the show that was to be recorded.  At one point, I set to record a show at 7pm on a Thursday, and it recorded at 10:15 on Wednesday ngiht, and the filename said 7pm on Thursday.  This is driving me nuts, I wish I never would have bought this.  It's causing more frustration than going back to a VCR.

I have the TVCenter Pro, Version 4.98.1903.  PCTV HD Pro Stick (801e).

Maybe it's our names. We're both Scott B's!

I really wish I had purchased the Hauppauge product instead. I have read great reviews on that card using the GBPVR software. I may end up biting the bullet and buying it now, anyway. I have to pay $15 to order each week of the classes that don't record. I have actually spent more on the rebroadcasts already than I did when I bought the Pinnacle product.

By the way, I moved stuff around so I could try with the tuner, as requested. I have the same problems. The product/software is an absolute nightmare. I will be leaving my review on the sites that sell the product.

Good point about the reviews.  I'll start doing the same.

It seems like if multiple people are having the same problem, it shouldn't be too hard to find and fix.  It's kind of an obvious problem, and basically makes the software useless.  I was able to schedule something to record and it worked last night....although I scheduled something that started in 10 minutes.  Maybe if it is scheduled out more than a few hours or days, it gets hosed?

Is someone working on this???  It looked like someone was.  We have confirmed it happens when using the tuner.  What next???
