Shaky Video with the PCTV HD Pro Stick

    Hello!
I just purchased the PCTV HD Pro Stick for Vista, installed the hardware and software, everything works. However, the quality of the video is poor. I am connected via coax and not antenna. I've tried watching TV in the TV center software and through the Windows Media Center with the same results - the quality of the video is poor. The picture is "shaky", for lack of a better word. It's very disappointing.

Anyone run into this problem? I will try to update my video card driver (NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600) and see if that helps.

    Thanks for your time!
    Greg

I guess you're using analog TV? Can you provide a screenshot of the TV picture?

The digital channels look great! It's just the analog channels that are poor quality.

    Would trying the antenna help?

    Thanks!

is your coax connected to a roof antenna or cable? Of course you can try another antenna to see if there is improvement.

    Elmar,

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate that. The coax is connected to cable. We ordered a digital package from our service provider, so I will see in a few days if that makes a difference. I do at least want to try the cable, just for kicks.

    Cheers!

but you know, that you will only get the unencrypted clearQAM channels over digital cable? For everything else, you need the settop-box provided by your cable company and then you will be only able to connect via analog inputs to you PCTV (composite/RCA or S-Video connection).

Elmar, Yes, thank you, I am aware of that. If I try using the antenna connection, will that pick up the ananlog stations? I am wondering if I should have purchased the non-HD stick!!!

    Thanks again!

as far as I know, analog terrestrial TV will not be available much longer in the US. But if you have analog TV in your area right now, you should be able to receive it.

    Elmar,

    Thanks for the reply!

We'll be switching to HD in a week or so, but I am going to try the analog via antenna anyway.
