I've been trying to capture HD signals with my Pinnacle TV for Mac HD Stick  and not having any success.  I'm dropping frames and audio and it is both unwatchable and the recordings are not watchable either.

 

I can't seem to find any solid information on this... so I need to know the following:

Is this normal?  Does it just not record HD?

If I upgrade to the full version of EyeTV (as opposed to EyeTV Lite, which came with it) will it work?

I guess, this is more a performance issue. For capturing HD with eyeTV you need a new Intel-based MAC with Core2 technology.

I've got a 2.16 Intel 2 Core Duo with 2 gigs of RAM presently.

but SD channels are recording fine? Then still it seems like a performance thing. Have you checked your Energy-Settings? You should set them to performance.

Are you recording to an external HD?

No, doesn't work with SD channels either.  Exact same problem... pauses.. speeds up.... pauses... speeds up.

 I'm on a desktop... so no performance/battery issues and I'm saving to my internal harddrive.  

could you check the CPU usage during capture? Could you also do a benchmark for the speed of the HD?
