I was creating a project with Pinnacle 12 plus and saved it with all the music.  It was working fine at that time.  Then the software froze up and and I had to reboot.  The reboot left the sound drivers off and I had to reinstall them.  After reinstalling the drivers, my internet sounds (Yahoo videos etc.) were back.  However, the basic program sound effects and audio music tracks would not play in Pinnacle.

 I also inserted the program CD and clicked to install the repairs.  I created another project files. I made sure that the mute button was not on.  Still no sound in Pinnacle.

 I just spent 12 hours getting the most detailed part of the project set up and was just about to do the final part.  I'm hoping not to have to cancel this project and reinstall the software which may still not solve the problem and waste my project.

 Worst case is I'll burn a copy of what I did so far so I can remember what I've done.  However, if I can save the project cleanly and put it back if I reinstall Pinnacle, that would be great.  Or, if the project file is corrupt perhaps I can repair it?

 Is there a way to solve for sound driver conflicts?  I've got a drive detector software installed and it put back my sound card.  This is frustrating from wasting a lot of time.

You haven't by any chance got onboard sound as well as a separate card? Studio is poor at using the correct device.

I'm working with Vista 32 and have reinstalled Realtek High definition driver per looking at the settings in the sound control file.  It must be the latest as after downloading my driver detector software and control panel said it's working.  Do I need to have Soundtek or something.  I also have the Logitech webcam driver on for doing video emails.  I'm not sure how that may affect this.  But I use that all the time.

I saved the project, uninstalled and reinstalled the software and the audio is working again.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way until I complete the project.
