I like the somewhat cryptic tunnel analogy, my question would be how far away is the light, after all it's dark in space too but our eyes can see the Andromeda galaxy and at 2 million light years it will take an awful long time to get there!

Apart from any joke, there is nothing to say more than be patient and wait until an official statement will be released. Then it will be time to discuss again.

In the meantime, enjoy Smartsound with Studio 12.1, this is the most important part, up to now.

Never had the opportunity to use Smartsound in Pinnacle because I switched from Ulead where I used Smartsound to Pinnacle 11. To me Scorefitter is not even a good substitue at the moment for Smartsound but if they are doing away with it or not maybe Pinnacle plans to make a big investment to upgrade, As for now I use a lot of background music and can get better midi files off the web than some of the Scorefitter clips.

I received an email from Pinnacle to take a survey on S12 and the future. One of the questions was about Scorefitter. They wanted to know what types/styles of music I would like, etc. There was a reply box where I stated that Scroefitter sounded too "midi" for me and as for library selections for the future, look at Smartsound. They have all the bases covered with quality sound. They also wanted to know if I would like more video/audio tracks. Of course I put yes along with a minimum of 20 video and 10 audio. Not that I would use it, but you never know!

 

I have purchased every upgrade since S8, so I'm used to the caveats. But when I began importing projects into S12U, I noticed my SS files were missing. I searched every previous disk and bonus DVD and could find nothing. When I finally opened a support ticket with Pinnacle to ask/explain where my SS song files were, they didn't even admit the truth. Instead, they instructed me on how to uninstall and re-install S12. Like I don't know by now, huh? Nothing worse than wasting more time, especially in the middle of a time sensitive project. It was a big disappointment to lose that feature. Having built my system on upgrades, I've sure given my share of money and support, but I'm disappointed at not getting much back. I guess they figure new customers will outnumber lost customers. I'm very close to jumping ship; maybe to Final Cut. Anyone can sell software, but it's the service after the sale that in the end will make or break you.

If you can't think of any circumstances where you would use that many tracks, why do you ask for them?

On the next survey I'm going to ask for Free Cheese Sandwiches, World Peace and Pinnacle to send Marc P to come round and clean my cooker. All of these would be far more worthwhile.

Have a look at THIS.

Although it talks about S11, it also works with S12 and S12.1

One of the points of this thread is to make sure that SmartSounds will work at least with all S12 patches.

Well that did the trick, I've got the whole library back! For those also looking for the library, it's on Studio Plus 10.5 Disc 2, along with the installer.

My feeling was that you got a lot of troubles before to succeed to stick the discussion, and moreover it seems that sometimes, even sticked, the discussion falls down, to heavy perhaps, or the Pinnacle stickers are too flimsy. That's the reason because I was proposing some help. A good nail in addition of the usual Pinnacle sticker would provide a good failsafe attachment.The belt and the braces.

This thread seems to be losing it's relevance.  I just want to keep SmartSound in Studio.

This thread is constantly losing it's relevance and then regaining it, and it doesn't really matter if it's pinned or not, as long as it is bumped once a day
