Idea [I] Live Streaming with Dazzle 100 and 170

Well I am trying to broadcast on Justin.Tv site and i have too use Adobe Flash Media Encoder but i can not use the Dazzle DVC 170 Platinum because Dazzle DVC 170 Platinum output streams in MPEG format and Adobe Flash Media Encoder would expect a Raw Stream so its not compatible with the application. I know a kid on the site Justin.Tv where I wan't to broadcast and he uses the Dazzle 100 and he is also running XP on his computer and I am running vista. I was thinking i could just go buy a dazzle 100 for my computer and then i could broadcast but I was wondering if it would work for me because i thought maybe its because of the driver for the Dazzle DVC 170 Platinum i had to download for vista. So i asked him what driver he is using and he said he is using the drivers that came with the disks so would the (Dazzle 100) work for me even thought im using vista or is the reason the (Dazzle DVC 170 Platiunum) isn't working is because of the vista patch?

    Re: Dazzle 100 and 170

MPEG encoding is embedded on the DVC 170 and is using the same driver as the DVC 100 in Vista. What kind of video does your software supports?

    Re: Dazzle 100 and 170

How do i figure out what video it supports? And i was saying if i didnt have vista would my Dazzle DVC 170 work for the broadcasting site?

    Re: Dazzle 100 and 170

This site is for live broadcast. Are you planning to connect a Hi-8 camera to our Dazzle so Adobe can use it to broadcast live? IMHO, this would not work as it will not be detected as a valid device for live stream.

Dazzle are designed for capturing and not for broadcasting. But maybe, there are others who already tried this. Anybody else?

What analog device are you connecting with the DVC 170. I tried this myself and the site looks for a web camera.

    Re: Dazzle 100 and 170

I'm sorry I am not familiar with the software you are using but I found some things that may interest you.

Some software for streaming are looking for a video source and audio source. The chips on the device should be identified automatically by these software.

Looking at device manager entries for DVC 100, you will see two separate entries for video and audio drivers. Whereas, the DVC 170 only has one. This difference should not be a problem with our software. This is not a bug or whatsoever, but this is how they are designed.  Both should be working with Studio (have you tried capturing using Studio?).

If the site looks for a separate entry for audio and video, the DVC 170 would not be giving the format it asks for.  I am not recommending buying DVC 100 yet until we can figure out the actual pre-requisites of broadcasting at their site.

    Re: Dazzle 100 and 170

Broadcasting on the site works by Downloading Adobe Flash Media Encoder 2.5 then you Save your link of your broadcasting page to your desktop which it will turn it into an XML file which you open inside of FME.

    Re: Dazzle 100 and 170

I am finally finished with my experiment.  Thank you for patiently waiting. I tried both broadcasting and recording using DVC 170 and DVC 100. I also tried another old model of Dazzle.

DVC 100 is detected by Flash Media Encoder as a valid VIDEO and AUDIO source, either online or offline. But the DVC 170 is not.  My first assumption that this is due to how the drivers are installed and shows on the device manager was confirmed using another device that is supposed to have separate entry for Video and Audio.

Although this might not be the real reason as I have not tested the chipsets and the encoding yet, I was able to make the DVC 100 for broadcasting in this site using Flash Media Encoder in three different tests I did.

I still have to know if this is also the key in finding out why some Dazzle are not working with other Adobe software as well. But I will leave this to their engineering department.

    Re: Dazzle 100 and 170

As both DVC 100 and DVC 170 uses the same hardware driver installer. ( I have to correct myself. Not the same driver but the same driver installer), you don't probably need to install another driver.

You can purchase just the hardware by calling sales, since you already have Studio.

    Re: Dazzle 100 and 170

How did you get the sound to work in FME?

I can get the video right, but I get no audio at all.

Both Audio and Video shows in the drop downs, but I get no sounds if I select DVC 100 Audio

(Both works in Instant DVD Recorder)

    Re: Dazzle 100 and 170

I can't get audio to work either.  I have dealt with pinnacle's online support and its as good as any, but online support blows.  I could knock out in 2 mins on the phone what takes me 30 playing the teenage IM game.  It is silly.  So I make a statement and sit and.............sit some more...............then I wait..............er and wait some more.  Like I have nothing better to do.

I don't have 'Studio' Anything.  I bought the cheap $49 dazzle with DVD Recorder as the software.  It's a basic screen with 4 little sections to it - maybe about 6 options in all.  I see no where anything for 'audio.'

So I'm trying to use my camcorder for the video and add an ipod as the audio source.  I can hear the music playing when I am 'recording' but no audio comes out on the finished .VOB

I just read somewhere that you must have the audio playing before you hit 'record'.  Can anyone verify that?  I have tried this about 30 times and have always started the 'recording' and then turned on the iPod.  Do I need to turn the ipod on first and then click 'record'????  Not sure that really would make much difference.

My video comes out great....if only I can get the audio to work.  Pinnacle has had me download drivers and uninstall and everything else - to no avail

    windows vista 32 bit

    Thanks anyone!!!

    Re: Dazzle 100 and 170

Okay, I just made an account here, but i'll tell you guys this:

     1) The Dazzles that are Silver and Black do not, I REPEAT, DO NOT, work online or with anything other than STUDIO! This is because the drivers are pretty much anti-everything minus Studio.

2)The Red and White dazzles do work with nearly everything. If the red 1 works with sound I don't know, but the they both work with Video I know that. This is because several of my friends on xbox used the red one and I have a white and silver 1, and only the white 1 works online, but I am having the same sound problem. I've tried everything, sound works in studio, but not in anything else.

If you have any questions, my gamertag on live is = MaX aKa PanTh3r

if you want to see my quality go to youtube and type in "xOUTI3REAKx"(I = i) and then hit my freebird million point video and watch in high quality as it is the only vid on there recorded with my dazzle.

Hope this helps anyone in the future
