Studio 11 capture with USB cable

I have problems to get at cable with firewire plug to my computer from my new Sony DCR-HC62 video camera. Studio 11 do not accept the USB cable which was with the camera. I had no problems to get such a cable to my old Sony videocamera DCR-PC3E, but the new one have another DV-out (she) plug.

Has Pinnacle an update software to solve this problem?

Re: Studio 11 capture with USB cable

From what I see on the Sony (UK) website - the HC62E accepts a standard 4-pin Firewire plug. So depending on whether your PC has a 4-pin or 6-pin Firewire socket you can use a standard 4-pin to 4-pin or 4-pin to 6-pin cable. So the one you used with your PC3E _should_ work with the HC62E too.

Note that the Firewire socket is most likely hidden under a small plastic cover/flap; the "different" socket you have found might actially be the analogue-out and not the Firewire...If all else fails get out the camcorder's manual and study the diagrams showing the layout of the controls etc. to find out where Sony have hidden it...

Studio 11 do not accept the USB cable which was with the camera.

DV Tape Cam Manufacturers don't usually supply a "Firewire" (DV transfer) cable, only a USB cable, for downloading Stills (not video), to your PC. You need to buy one, if you haven't already got one from your old Cam, which is also a DV Tape Cam.

This camera saves the video to a memory stick, right? While connected via USB, open My Computer or Computer if you have Vista and see if a drive letter was assigned to the camera.  If there is one, use the steps here to transfer the video and stills. Otherwise, you will need a card reader to manually copy the contents to your hard drive and then you will do an import instead of capture.
