mixing video formats 16:9 and 4:3...changing project formats

I'm using Studio 11 Ulitimate where I'm mixing footage shot in both 16:9 and 4:3.   I've just learned that in "project preferenes" I can set the format type when starting a new project....and by default, the format type is determined by the first clip added to the time line.

We'll now that I know this..no problem..but I just learned it...and I have several projects that are in 4:3 that I would like to be in 16:9 because of the first clip that I put on the timeline was 4:3 footage.  If I delete the first clip and replace it with a 16:9 clip, the project still remains as a 4:3 project.... I need the entire project to change to 16:9.

So, how can I change the Format of a completed project?   Hopefully it is easy.....but in the meantime, I'm having panic attack because of the time invested so far.

     Any help?

     Thank you,

    Rob

OK...after reading through my Jan Ozer book...I've learned that the format CANNOT be changed...bummer. So it looks like I've lost a few chapters that I need to redo in 16:9.

So, while on the topic of formats...wow! there are alot of choices.  What's the scoop on the different types...I haven't been able to find anything yet.

    There's 13 choices.

    NTSC std and widescreen(WS)

    NTSC progressive and progressive  WS

PAL std, progressive and progressive WS

    and 6 different HDs.

Does anyone have some guidelines as to what format would be best for specific cases?

    To change...

In your current project, go to to Project prefs and select the proper aspect ratio/resolution.  Then, Select All on timeline, CTRL-C to copy, Click FILE>New project, CTRL>V to paste. In some cases, some timing may change, so a careful review might be in order. But it is easily done.

Thanks Mark!  That worked very well.  I had to redo a few key frames ...but otherwise, it was painless.  You've saved me a TON of time...thank you very much!
