    Question about recording TV...

First off, I am using windows Vista and have PCTV HD Pro Stick TVCPro 4.92.1550, I get a lot of jumping on when I record a TV show, is there anything that will fix this? Someone told me to remove the de-interlacing which I did and I see no real change in the quality.

Second, what is the best choice for quality if I wanted to upload something I recorded from the TV through Studio 11, (that I have the rights to), to the internet and/or to burn to DVD?

Does the quality I choice I pick determine if I get jumping lines/frames in the final output? I mostly use Med quality NTSC if that helps.

I know this I'm asking for a lot of help so thank you very much in advance!

    Re: Question about recording TV...

    Hello TV Fan,

Welcome to the forums Smile. If you are recording live TV, do that using TVCenter Pro and not Studio.

You can set the recording format under Record in the Settings window. Best to use DIvX as this is a good quality capture.

The video you have "recorded" in TV Center Pro, you can "import" in Studio. Big Smile

    Re: Question about recording TV...

I made another post about my new issue, sorry. But, here is the new problem:

I have selected the divx option and now it saves the recordings as ".avi" in which TV center as well as studio cannot open them. In the recorded shows section of TV center pro it listes the recording as good, green dot instead of a red dot next to it, but when I try to open it, it will not open, "failed to play movie" is all I get.

Please tell me how I may get this recording to play. I need to make a DVD of this recording. Thank you!

if you want to edit the video, I would recommend using native or MPEG recording, not DivX. After editing you can make a DivX with Studio as well.

    Re: Question about recording TV...

I met same issue. I just would like to record TV program and view it later. However, sometimes, I can't open divx avi file with same error message. Finally, I found that this issue was happened if I record long TV program like movie. Always, the file size is 4,200,6xx KByte if I can't play the recorded file. I suspect that TV center may record it as AVI 1.0. And in my understanding, maximum file size of AVI 1.0 is around 4GB but TV center doesn't divide it into 2 or more files automatically even though it would be larger than 4GB. So I guess the file was corrupted... This is my guess so I'm not sure. However, I lost a lot of chance to watch interesting movies...

AW: Re: Question about recording TV...

AVI is just a container. Do you have FAT32 or NTFS filesystem?

Re: AW: Re: Question about recording TV...

I'm using NTFS. So if I recored the TV program as native, it would be more than 10GByte but it is not a problem. Every time, 4GB over divx is problem.
