Hey all,

     I just got Studio with Dazzle and upgraded Studio to version 10.8 for Win XP and I was playing around with creating menus and found that after I set a chapter marker and pressed the button to set the current frame as the thumbnail image that the image would not show in the preview player and I noticed that if I go into the time line mode and attempt to set it by right clicking the option to set the thumbnail is grayed out, how do I fix this? Also, when I opened the project that I was trying to insert the menu in, Studio gave me errors saying that it couldn't open objects related to the menu, but yet I could still drag and drop the menu temples into the project. My first guess is a complete reinstall, but if that could be avoided I'd try other fixes first.   

 

Have you tried recreating the Menu?

Tired it and same thing no still image of the current frame, btw forgot to mention this is Studio Quick start, whats next?

Try opening your original project, go to edit and choose Select All and then select Copy. Then open a new project and then press CTRL+V on your keyboard to Paste.Then recreate the menu in this new project.

I tired copying both the menu and the video clips and both times paste is grayed out tired dropping a new menu in everything remains the same no thumbnail of current frame.

Try opening a new project then add the Studio sample (clowns.mpg, photoshoot.mpg or ourbackyardcircus.mpg) video and add it to the timeline and attempt to reproduce the problem with this. Tell me what happens.

    Same thing even with the sample video, used the clowns.mpg, after dropping the video scenes into the timeline, setting a chapter marker or two, then pressing the "Set thumbnail" button the space where the thumbnail should be is blank, just black in color. Note: In all trials I'm not getting an errors from Studio.

 

          

 

Try other standard menus.

    I tired the precious memories menu and behold it worked, it was a menu that didn't have black squares in the spots were the buttons would be, water fun is the only other menu with out the black squares for buttons so now I ask is there a button property that can be looked at and or modified to get the other menus to behave or should I just get used to creating my own? Where do you need me to update my profile?

If only one menu is working, you might need to repair Studio or reinstall it. Try repair first but move the folders above first. Not delete but move to another safe place.

Alright, this time I noticed that after the bonus installer ran, that adds all of those other menus, and I loaded studio and looked at the menus that I still see black squares for the buttons in all except for the two mentioned in my last post, so it seems like the installer is doing something or putting something in the wrong spot.

 

Note: While I was troubleshooting something else I reinstalled Studio, but the same condition is encountered after the Bonus CD installer was done. No, I mean what data do you need in my profile thats not there?

We also need to know the video card model you are using and its dedicated/shared memory.

If you can update the drivers, we can leave the driver issue.

Did you move the folders mentioned and then run Repair install?

Yes I updated the drivers and the folders you mentioned were moved: result = same

 

Video card is a GeForce 6150 LE 512 to 1 GB don't remember for certain.   

Lower down hardware acceleration.

Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advance > Troubleshoot.

Test each notch restarting Studio every time.

 

Tried all notches that I could, stepping down as I went,  result at all notches = same.

Send me the saved dxdiag file.

Which one? there are several in the Windows folder.

I think Mon Roy meant was to Click the "Save All Information" button. This should result in a exported dxdiag.txt file.

Alright, I am assuming this button is in the dialog box that comes up when studio crashes, with the menu problem studio doesn't crash so is there another way I can force the txt file to be created? 

Not necessarily it found in the Dxdiag dialog box itself. See the attached image.

I am having the same problem as Jar17RG.  Everything works fine with my menu, except that each thumbnail is a black box (despite having designated specific frames from the video's chapters).  I am using  Studio 10.8 Quickstart, as well.

Has there been an answer to this? I noticed one other person was having problems and I started messing with menus this evening and I have the same issue.
