    DVD Import in Studio 12

Importing Mini DVDs created with SonyHandycam and Studio 12 imports with a "gap" (frames stutter and audio drops for split second) every 8 -10 seconds.  You cna se the gap on the audiotimeline.  Roxio 10 imports without the "gap" but has auio sync issues.  Support says to uninstall / reinstall which I'm adverse to doing since evryhting else is working fine.

Try copying the contents of the disc to a folder on your desktop and import it from there instead. See if it still imports the same way. Let me know how it turns out.

Did the uninstall and reinstall.  Didn't work.

Copied DVD to desk and imported.  EXACT same results.

How many chapters does this DVD have? Would it matter how many chapters you import? Try another finalized mini DVD from this camera and lets see if the behavior is the same, lets try to isolate the issue further.

Re: DVD Import in Studio 12

This particular DVD has 5 chapters.  It's being recognized and imported as 1 title (don't believe there's an option import chapters, right?).  The behavior starts right from the beginning - first 8-9 seconds.  I've tried numerous disks - the latest being one with 6 chapters - and the behavior is the same - gaps every 8-9 seconds where the audio cuts out and the frames shudder.

Can you contact support to manually activate MPEG-2. Then try again.

Does anybody else has an idea?

Manually activated MPEG-2 via support.  Exact same result.

The DVDs import fine using other software, most recently Corel DVD Copy6. I know - why don't I just use that software - but I'd like the $130 software to work.  Interestingly, the files produced by Corel DVD Copy 6 are much smaller (1G) than those produced by Studio 12 (1.3G).

Just to further isolate the issue, try doing a clean boot. Tell me what happens.

Re: DVD Import in Studio 12

Hello: I am having the same problem. I use a Sylvania DVD burner to burn RAW VIDEO from our church services.  I then Capture to STUDIO 12 ULTIMATE using the DVD import.  I used to import via a PINNACLE DELUXE Board with BOB.  But now STUDIO 12 doesn't support older input equipment.  My captured DVD is not in Stereo and it has a COMPLETE drop of AUDIO every 30 seconds using DVD input to capture. what is the problem? Please fix as my VIDEO's are broadcast over local Public Access Channel every week.

If its a 700 PCI (Movieboard deluxe) it should be supported. Could you verify what exactly this capture board is? And try updating its drivers.

Re: DVD Import in Studio 12

HI Marc Its not a 700 PCI its a STUDIO DELUXE V.7 PN: 201100132 It Predates the 700 PCI under STUDIO 12 TECH notes #9. Capture from DV500/Studio Deluxe is not supported. If the import DVD  If Studio 12 worked without AUDIO dropout every 30 SECONDS and would capture in Stereo it would be an awsome product.  I have used Pinnacle System software since the Studio 400 came out in 1995.  Well I hope Pinnacle can fix this problem.  I will send you a clip if you want just tell me where and how.

Re: DVD Import in Studio 12

I can see that Studio Deluxe has 2 versions, can't say for sure which one you have. Why don't you try updating to the lastest driver packs. Here's one for Studio Deluxe 1 and Here's one for Studio Deluxe 2.

Re: DVD Import in Studio 12

HI: Marc P I have the Studio Deluxe 1 I down loaded it and applied it but studio 12 doesn't recognize the Deluxe card.  As stayed in previous post in the Studio 12 read me file" (#9 capture from the AV/DV1 card is not SUPPORTED. This is not a DIRECTSHOW card.)"  I have no problem capturing in Studio 11 with my Deluxe card But i have trouble in Studio 12 capturing using the import DVD titles with the AUDIO it DROPS OUT FOR A MICRO SECOND every 30 SECONDS and scrambles the video at that point.  As I'm retired and on a fixed income I can't go out and buy hardware every time that software is updated so I cant afford a firewire or USB video card at this time.  So is Pinnacle going to fix this problem or am I going to have to have both Studio 11 for capturing and Studio 12 for Editing.

Re: DVD Import in Studio 12

At this point I do not have a definite solution nor an ETA for this driver to be fixed. I will be reporting it, but at this point in time looks like that will be your best option for now. I'll gather more input and post any updates I'll find.

Re: DVD Import in Studio 12

HI: Marc P Thanks for the update.  I guess I will have to use my work around capture under Studio 11 then edit in Studio 12 as I like some of the new Video Effects that are not availble in Studio 11. let me know when you have any answers as I will be watch the board from time to time.

Update on my issue.  Clean boot etc. isn't affecting the results.  Sample DVDs mailed to Pinnacle support so they can attempt to duplciate the issue.
