    blank DVD - 10.8

hi I've just upgraded from Pinnacle Studio 10 Plus v10.5 to 10.8 with the release patch.

Now whenever I make a movie, I create the image first, taking 20 minutes to complete, but then the DVD that is produced is blank and cannot be read, even though it is supposed to be a 2 hour DVD.

It was working before, but now since the upgrade it's stopped working, even though I have also re-created the project.

Why is it doing this? I can't seem to find anything on the subject. Any help would be appreciated. (using Windows XP SP2).

    Thanks

    Tushar

IMO, you would be better-off with S10.7, which is the most stable Version of S10. S10.8 is primarily for Vista Users. There have been probs for some on some PCs Rendering to DVD with S10.8.

That being said, if you have Pinnacle's InstantDVD Recorder, Remove it from ADD/REM PROGS. Try that 1st.

thanks for the suggestion, but it still doesn't work. Does that mean I have to uninstall and re-install 10.5 and upgrade to 10.7 using the patch? Have to dig out my original disc.....

    Yes.

    1) Go to: ADD/REM PROGS. You should have just S10 & Bonus Content DVD showing?

    2) Remove S10 & leave Content DVD.

    3) Download  Pinnacle's RegDelete Prog & Run it 3 times for S10 only.

    4) Do a Custom, rather than Typical Install of S10.5's 2 Cds & choose not to Install Instant DVD & Mediamanager/Server. Ignore request to Install Content DVD.

    5) Update to S10.7 Full Patch.

    6) Defragment your Hard Drive.

Hope that cures it. If it doesn't, you'll have to try something-else, but still keep S10.7 in any event.

thanks again, wouldn't it be easier just to purchase an upgrade to version 12, or is that a bad move?

    Regards

Some but not all, are having early teething problems with S12. IMO, you should spend a little time in reading the Posts re: probs with S12. I have S10.7 & like many others, have laboured through the teething probs since S10.0, to get a stable Version. IMO, you should stick with S10.7, untill those probs in S12 are fixed. Apart from which, Upgrading to a newer Version won't neccessarily solve any probs you might have in a previous Version. Both S11 & 12 Ultimate have 3 3rd Party Progs included in the price & you may have to Upgrade your Graphics Card to Run those.

An alternative to Installing S10.7 would be to "Create Disk Content but do not Burn", in Studio & then Burn, using Nero, if you have it.

    Success!

I have Nero 7 Premium and used the pre-created Disk Content to create a new DVD. see http://www.videohelp.com/oldguides/nerodvd.htm for instructions.

Many thanks, Colour, you are a genius!

Darn - Now they'll expect me to get it "all right, all of the time", instead of "only some of it right, some of the time".Indifferent
