I work with Pinnacle Studio 11 ultimate. My project/source-settings shows me my camera, the tv-standard is PAL and then I cannot set the widescreen mode. There's only 4:3, but I cannot change this mannually. I've a widescreen Panasonic camera...

Are you are talking about DV Firewire capture? If so, you aspect ratio isn't switchable, as the camera outputs a signal that should be automatically detected.

If you capture it and it turns out to be the wrong aspect ratio, you can change it when it is in the album by right-clicking on the video and selecting the correct aspect ratio. If these are greyed out, you will need to reload the video into the album using the folder Icon.

When I've captured my video, I cannot change the format manually in the album by right-clicking and selecting the 16:9 aspect ratio.

DV firewire capture is in 16:9, but the project aspect ratio stays at 4:3.

Have you got scene detection turned off?

And can't you set the project ratio manually? You need to start a new project for the settings to become active.

Yes I've tried. But the video is captured in 16:9. The problem is, that when i make a project with these video's, the album settings shows me that the project is 4:3 and I can't change that.

And when finishing my dvd it's a letterbox format instead of a widescreen format...

Go to Setup/ Project preferences and select the radio button "Use this project for new projects". From the dropdown box, select Widescreen PAL (from your timezone you are PAL. although you haven't filled in the rest of your profile)

Now Start a new project .

Hover your mouse over the project name above left of the timeline. What does the tooltip that pops up say?

Now drag you 16:9 camcorder footage to the timeline. Does Studio now generate letterbox bars?

What project properties are using? What project format is it? (i.e. PAL Widescreen, set from first clip added)
