tip - getting rid of "colored" snow

some one gave me a really bad clip for use in a wedding film. I did some color correction, but I was left with a very bad "colored snow" which made it unusable I used virtual dub and the motion blur filter twice and this fixed it very nicely - the clip is still bad, and the picture was a bit blurred - but the overall result was much better A third filter made it even cleaner - but the blur was very obvious. The motion blur combines adjacent frames - I'm not sure why it fixed the "snow" - but it did... I thought the cleanup process might be useful for others - so here it is Look at the first and and second part of the clip which are before and after the fix You might need to scroll all the way down to see the player. http://www.vimeo.com/1145729

    Yon,

I have not looked at the clip (same results as highlighted above), so this may be invalid.  Is there room for some artistry in the wedding clip?  If so, try black & white (or seriously desaturated color), add a slight blur, and some slow motion with a Linear Timewarp.  Perhaps a touch of the Dream Glow filter that blows out the whites, adding to the surreal look.  Don''t overdo it though.

Depending on how bad the snow is, it could well become a non factor.

    I've made it public

I hope you can see it - in my browser it looks a mess - I'll try to upload it somewhere else

I have looked at it, you found a nice way to clean it up I think

    Yonatan,

    2 observations

    1. I think the snow came from a camera which couldn't cope with low light. I think that is what the snow is.

    2. The reason it cleaned up is because combining adjacent frames puts an average color in its place. So, if a particular pixel had the "snow" in it in frame 1, but frame 2 did not, the effect comes up with an average gamma between the two frames and replaces it with the average.
