    Scrubber crashes

I know I have seen something about this but seaching the forums give no hits. I still have problems with studio crashing (and sending email to Pinnacle) when moving the scrubber

has anyone had any indication of a solution to this problem ?

    Re: Scrubber crashes

Do a "Repair" Install: Insert Prog Disk & choose "Repair" & then Update to latest Patch.Try that.

    Scrubber crashes solved maybe

Done and maybe you are right

a fast and dirty testing of the scrubber seems to indicate that it is stable

if so it is a real boon

    Thanks

worse luck I still got a crash of this type. The one thing I can eliminate (but cannot do just now ) Is to minimise paralelle applications. As I nee photos in hte video I have had photo editing software running at the same time. I will try with a "empty" memory and report the result. however it will not be until after the weekend

Have you tried a clean boot?

    Re: Scrubber crashes solved maybe

That depends on what you mean. I have rebooted, stopped all auto started programs (e.g. mail) and run studio. Same problem.

butI have not manipulated the boot files to start from a cleaner environment (e.g. without various drivers). the project I am working on uses USB disks (it reads material from many files some quite large) so starting in e.g. safe mode would not be possible.

Do you still get these crashes with the scrubber if you disable audio scrubbing (the icon to the left of the razor blade)?

What I meant with the clean boot is using MSConfig. Keep us posted.

    Re: Scrubber crashes solved maybe

Thanks for the advice, havent had time to look at it until recently

1)hernell On checking I find that the audio scrubber has been off all the time so that is not the reason

2)Marc, I havent gone quite as far as using MSConfig (I always find it so difficult to reset actions if done wrongly in MSconfig) BUT I did find 4 programs of the type "checking internet for updates" All ok and known programs but when I killed these 4 I had a radical improvement. From a crash every hour to maybe a crash a week which I can live with

So it does indeed seem to be an interaction problem between programs

    Re: Scrubber crashes solved maybe

Im glad you were able to determine a possible point of failure. All the steps you take in MSconfig can be undone with just checking and unchecking the checkboxes, just make sure you Hide Microsoft services before turning off services.

    Re: Scrubber crashes solved maybe

yes steps can be undone but I have had a bad experience of turning of some type of USB driver (no I did not tuch microsoft services it was somewhere else) leading to the system reconfiguring itself on startup.

I had to go to safe mode to be able to re-set MSConfig. OK, it worked but I just wanted to try to avoid the hassle of doing that again

    sometime maybe !!

    Re: Scrubber crashes solved maybe

I'd only recommend going for software startup programs and if all else fails non-MS services. Modifying the other tabs might cause more bad than good IMHO.
