Hi I cannot seem to be able to install Studio 10.5.2 on my Gateway XP Pro. I put the disk in, it spins for a while, then I get this error message:

 After I click OK for this I get an advice screen telling me to close any running programs, empty the temporary folder and check the internet connection. (The bottom of the window showed "Error code: -5002".) I did those action and tried to install again, with the same result. For the third time I tried to do the install in safe mode and got the same error message.

I searched this forum for 5002 and did not find any posts.

My processors is: AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-50, MMX 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~1.6 GHz 

I have 894 MB RAM

There have been several options suggested for install problems. You might check the Pinnacle FAQ section on their website. Here are some that have been discussed. Start your computer in the 'safe' mode and try again. If you're still unsuccessful, copy the entire contents of your install disk to your hard drive. Do your install from the hard drive. I'm not sure, but I think the file name should be 'install.exe'. If that's not correct, I'm sure someone will give the correct file name.

Try Don's suggestion and let us know if you continue to get the same issue. Thanks for colour's clarification, it might be "setup.exe" or Setup2.exe inside a Setup folder.

As mentioned in the opener I already tried to install in safe mode.

Now I tried to copy the data from the disc to the drive, but I got this error:
"Cannot copy HelperDLL: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)." 

I restarted the computer, and tried again, but got the same error. 

My DVD-R drive is fine; I used it for backup this morning. I am beginning to think that I got a faulty installation disc.

Do you have a tip how I could copy the content of the disc or get a new disc (or download the content of the disc)?

Visually examine the bottom side of the disk to see if there are any scratches or finger prints. If there are finger prints, wipe gently from center outward with a soft cloth. If need be, you can add a bit of detergent water to the cloth and clean it. Pat it dry with a paper towel.

I tried something else, before I read your post and that WORKED. Using another computer I managed to copy the content of the installation disc onto an external drive. Then I connected this drive to the machine I want to use for video and copied the content form there to the hard drive. And from there I finally managed to do the installation. (Then I installed the Bonus DVD, which took a surprisingly long time.) But now I am on my way to learn how to use these tools.

Note; the bonus DVD doesn't contain any applications or effects that you can use for free. They will all have the Pinnacle logo superimposed. You can view them, and then if you wish, you can purchase a key from Pinnacle to unlock them.

If you installed 'instant DVD', you might want to uninstall that. It has caused many problems for other users causing them not to be able to make disks.

And Uninstall MediaManager/Server From ADD/REM PROGS. If PinnacleMSSQL Server is also showing, Unistall that, as well. It's a resource hog & you don't really need it. You'll probably get an Error Message "Unable to initialize Data Base", anyway, if you try to use it. However Pinnacle do have a Fix Download for that.

Update to S10.7 (Not S10.8) "Full Patch", from Downloads page. S10.7 is the most stable Version of S10 & has a No of Prog Fixes. If you have IE7 Installed, S10.7 will hang on the Pixie Folder Install. Pinnacle have a Pixietool Fix for this, on the Downloads Page. If you can live without IE7, it's quicker easier to just Remove it from Windows Updates in ADD/REM PROGS & you'll automatically "Roll-Back" to IE6. 

And for other people having the same problem, ffter clearing up your temporary files by running %temp%, go to Add/Remove programs and then use Add New Software buttong then browse setup.exe or setup2exe on the disc.
