    S12 wishes....

I don't really care about all the technical rendering crap, just make sure it works with your minimum system requirements..... Duhhh

BIG items for me would be:

    1) less price jacking for retarded transitions like a lame sportsball or birthday cake. Put all the lame stuff in one pack and the cool stuff in other packs so that soccor mom can get the stupid effects/transistions she wants while the rest of us that spend hours trying to mimic ESPN can get what we want.

    2) Ability to add a transition WITHOUT it messing with the audio track. Make it optional. Maybe a right click choice to apply or unapply it to that track. Actually what would be great is being able to have some control as well. Wish I could drop a simple transition into the music track!!!!

    3) Different clips tend to get recorded at different volumes, I HATE that when I drop a clip next to one that I dropped the volume out of cause I have a music scroe to it, that my new clip is muted as well!!!!

    4) KEYFRAMING speed effect!! OMG! HOW FREAKIN HARD COULD THIS BE????? Maybe I want to make the clip slowly progress from regular speed to a drugged out Will Ferrrell? Kinda like how it would actually feel if you was drugged. Acid doesn't just go...... BAM time is moving like a snail... It slowly shifts the time to a MAX point. Would be great to take a sequence and keyframe it so it's regular speed, then the guy gets drugged (smokes a phatty) and time start slowing down to a point that you could then maintain or reapply that line.

     5) I know you want to suck every dollar out of us that you can by showing us all the neat things we could have if we won the lotto, but for the average Joe that's not the general case. Put a menu option in that would allow us to hide what we don;t have unlocked. Believe me, if we want it and can afford it, WE WILL BUY IT. Pretty simple concept.

I could rant about some other crap, but thats definetly my top 5.  Maybe some more to come later.........................

    4- Sounds good

5- Already is there. Go to Project prefs and uncheck Show Premium content/features. That hides all the stuff you haven't activated

    Re: S12 wishes....

    1) "Retarded" transitions: These have never obstructed my work. The most common transitions are probably the fade and the cross fade. These are right at the top of the options I see on S 11.11. Studio provides a lot of others, which I seldom or never use, but I do not begrudge them and recognize cases where they could be cute for some users. Spare use of transitions is sometimes best. Too many can have a tedious result. And Pinnacle is probably smart to consider the home video interests of mothers, since there are so many of them. 2) Transition WITHOUT it messing with the audio track. Two solutions already possible: A) strip the audio track from your video track and put it on one of the sound or effects timeline, mute the native audio, then do whatever you want with the sound, independent of the transitions you add to the video, although this may require a little re-synching of the audio to the video. B) Record your audio with a separate device and then assemble the video clips and other elements, the same way professional music video is created and mixed.. L and J editing is another option. 3) Clip volume settings: Studio allows one to set different volume levels for individual clips and even changing volume levels through the course of a clip. When putting clips in sequence, it would be almost impossible to get good results without careful manual adjustment to the clip volume levels and fades, so any toggle to suppress the impact of clips of setting of clips already on the time onto a new clip would not really be much help. You'll want to adjust that new clip anyway. Furthermore, some people may want to change the volume settings for all clips by toying with a single one, if they decide that music volume is too low or too high in general. Another option for you is to place clips alternately on the music or effects timelines. Then a new clip will not be affected by a prior one on the line above or below it. 4) KEYFRAMING speed effect!! This is already possible, more or less. I did it for a high jump event, slowing the action as the athlete cleared the bar, then returning to normal. To attain gradual changes in speed, you'd simply increase the number of sequences with increasing or decreasing speed. Of course, it would take an infinite number of frames to achieve seamless geometrical changes, but four or five probably provide most of the desired effect, which you don't want to use very often, unless you want to afflict your audience with bi-polar fatigue. In other words, the tool you want might be "must have" for 0.01% of all projects, but the existing capability probably suffices for the far larger 5% of the times when any sort of speed effect is needed. 5) I click the menu options at the top to create my title frams, buttons, and menus from scratch and never even see the pre-fabs. Markk655's comment may also be true. Without showing any disrespect for your creative aims, I don't think it would be wise for Pinnacle to gear its product primarily for achieving drug-like effects, which can probably be bought as ad-ons from multiple sources. The key need for Studio 12 (or just 11.2) would be to iron out existing bugs (DVDs with no sound, the digital stabilizer that does not work) and improved functionality with high definition video, particularly AVCHD & Blu-Ray.

    Re: S12 wishes....

I see your points, but seriously, place all the lame transitions in thier own lame pack. What I mean is group them better. So if you want a pack, you get more of the style that your into as an individual.

Your ideas on the Keyframing of the speed effect are, well, to put it nicely..... retarded. Sorry, it would be a nice ability to have even if it's used very seldom. Alot of stuff in studio is used seldom, but it's still there.

HD video, AVCHD, & Blue Ray are givens. If they don't place those into 12, then they may as well chuck the master disc in the shredder, and blow up corporate HQ. Maybe Jack Bauer will save them and over act " DISARM THE BOMB!!!!!!!"

    Re: S12 wishes....

    Leach,

Take a Chill Pill.  There's no need to insult "soccer moms" and other people who might be happy with simple, child-oriented effects like birthday cakes when they make a video of their 5-year old's birthday party.

Many people have commented on those being a bit "simplistic, amateurish, and dated" but there's no need to be rude about it.

Aside from your attitude, most of the suggestions were reasonable, though please understand that 100 people would have 150 different suggestions on how best to organize and re-package the transitions and effects.

    ITEM #2:

Can you just lock the audio track and add transitions without messing up the audio?

I, too,  would like to be able to add a DISSOLVE and a FADE transition to audio tracks (a single track).
