Accessing PS23 Ult saved montage templates into PS 25??

Hi,  I just upgraded from PS23U to PS25U.  I had created some montage/split screen templates that I saved into the My Templates folder in PS23.  They are still there, but PS25 does not appear to recognize them.

Do I need to re-crate the templates in PS25U, or am I missing something?

    Thanks so much,

    Daddy Schlich

    Hello.

You have to reimport them into PS25. Once done you will see them in the My templates category of PS25's library.

Thanks.  That worked for My Titles, but I can't get PS25 import to recognize the .psmontage files in the My Templates folder.  PS23 continues to see them just fine.  Suggestions!

Ok. With a drag'n'drop import I could import one of my templates. It is now available but not from the My template category.

Re: Accessing PS23 Ult saved montage templates into PS 25??

Hmm ... there is something I'm missing here.  I opened the Import tab.  Then "my computer."  clicked on the project bin for "import to."

Whether I select "copy" or "link" as Import Mode does not matter.  The "all compatible asset files" option at the bottom of the folder list is selected.  (However, I note that ".psmontage"  does not appear as an acceptable extension option from that drop down menu - and those files do not appear.)

When I have the folder open separately in Windows Explorer and try to "drag and drop" on the blank right  side of the Import screen, I only get the circle with the diagonal line that basically is saying I cannot import that way.  And I checked the Importer chapter in the PS25 User Manual and did not see anything about drag and drop.

As I said, I'm missing something here!

     Thanks!

The drag'n'drop import method works only when you're in the Edit tab. You must drop the asset in an empty area of the library. Right between any asset in the library should work. The mouse arrow becomes an arrow with a +.

Re: Accessing PS23 Ult saved montage templates into PS 25??

Thanks.  Worked perfectly!  well... subject to the below -

I started pulling on the thread, however, and came to the following less-than-intuitive conclusions, which may or may not be correct, but thought I would share just in case others have some of the same issues.

    1.  When you "Save as ..." in Split Screen Template Creator in PS25U, you create a .psmontage file that goes in the Studio Projects folder even if you have set up "My Templates" within "Pinnacle", within "Documents" as the storage location for Templates in Control Panel within PS25U.  Those montages show up in the "My Templates" folder under "Templates" when you hover your mouse over "Montages Templates" icon in the icon column in upper left screen in Edit mode.

    2.  If you have .psmontage files in the "My Templates" folder in "Documents\Pinnacle" on your hard drive (presumably not created/saved in PS25U),  they do not show up automatically in PS25 My Templates.  You can, however, as you pointed out, drag and drop import them into PS25U in Edit mode.  They appear to show up only separately in a "my templates" folder (no initial caps) when you are in Edit mode under "Montages and Templates" when you hover over "Montage Templates" icon in the left vertical column (see screen shot below).  When you pull them down, edit them, and Save as ... in PS25 as above, they are treated as under #1 above.

So ... not clear what "Storage location" for Templates in Control Panel means under these circumstances.

    Buy maybe I'm missing something!

    Again, thanks for your assistance!

Your post has been caught by the forum software because of the way you tried to insert a picture in it. I had to edit the HTML code of your message then had to approve it so it got published.

My apologies.  Obviously, I have not tried to post a screenshot before.  Hopefully, this does the trick!

Obviously, poor design of "My templates" feature in PS25. Presumably the same with older versions.
