I have been a long time studio user and have just upgraded to Studio 24 from s20.  

 I am having problems with the pan and zoom. I have selected the animate mode but cannot back to the 'start' keyframe. When I go to the beginning of the clip the cursor is actually 1 frame in and I can't go back any further which means I cannot change the starting position.

What am I doing wrong?

Not sure. In animate mode are you using one of the presets or custom? Maybe you can outline your steps so we can replicate the issue.

Its a custom setup.

I have vision from a phone shot in portrait mode.  I drop the clip on the timeline and right click to select 'Pan and Zoom' and animate and I can't get back to the start of the clip, only 1 frame in.

Any adjustments I make don't hold, it reverts back to the settings at the start of the Clip.

I can make changes in Static mode but I want to track the subject.

I'll have another go tonight with the same clip in a fresh project and see what happens. 

OK, here is what happens.

It doesn't seem to matter what my source video is but if I trim the clip in the source window using "I" and "O" then drop that clip on the time line the animated Pan and Zoom does not work.

If I take the same clip and drop it on the time open it up in the Pan and Zoom window and do the adjustments I want. Then close the pan and zoom window and adjust the in and out points of the clip by dragging the start and end of the clip all is OK. I can even open it back up in the Pan and Zoom window and make further adjustments.

Also if I drop the clip directly on the timeline and drag the In and Out points to where I wan them and then open up the Pan and Zoom window it doesn't work.

So to sum it up, I can only adjust Pan and Zoom on an untrimmed clip then adjust my trim points after. If I trim the clip first it will not work.

Thanks for that. I didn't know about getting to the pan and zoom menu that way. It is a few more keystrokes than I use but it does the job. If I try it that way it works for me but if I 'Right Click' on the trimmed clip on the timeline then select Pan and Zoom I still have the same problem. I have attached my issue.

Although this shouldn't matter try the following....

After copying the clip to the time line but before right clicking to bring up the context menu and selecting Pan and Zoom,

Move the play head back to the beginning of the clip.

Then right click to bring up the context menu and then select Pan and Zoom.

You should then see the Green (start) and Red (end) boxes.

Try that and see how you go.

Tried moving the play head to the start of the clip (the only clip on the time line) and it still didn't work

How about clicking the Start button ?

Thanks Saby but I don't have that menu when I go to the Pan and Zoom through the context menu by right clicking on the clip.

I have discovered that it is dependant on what my source material is. I only have the problem when using video from the iPhone. Video from my video camera works as it should

With a right-click in the context menu you reach the old-fashioned Pan & Zoom.

Instead go to Editor, Pan & Zoom.
