    Installation of an SSD

    Hi,

I've recently installed a 2TB SSD (as Drive C) so as to speed up the rendering process when editing movies. My (GoPro) source videos are on an external HDD. Importing (using the regular IMPORT facility) is such that the imported videos are on Drive C. In addition, the Project Directory is also on Drive C, as is the PS21Ult.

Optimization threshold is at 20; Hardware Acceleration Type = None; Render while play is Off.

Currently, I have 6 timeline videos each having a length of no more than 16 minutes. While the Yellow rendering band is slowly changing to Green, it disappears immediately  if I turn off Video Monitoring on at least three of the Timelines. Reactivating just one additional Timeline (total 4), the Yellow  band reappears. It does not seem to matter as to which Timelines is on/off. If there are 3 or less, the Yellow band seems to disappear quickly; otherwise, it's painfully slow.

Thus, the use of an SSD has made no difference to speeding up the rendering process during editing. Any suggestions?

(Running Windows 10 pro with Intel Xeon CPU-E5-1650 v2@3.50 GHz with 16 GB RAM 64 bit)

    Expected result.

The SSD speed up disk reading/writting access. During editing, any modern HDD with Sata connector is fast enough to read/write several video files, even in 4K.

    Thanks Saby.

The SSD is a Crucial MX500 CT2000MX500SSD1(Z) 2 TB (3D NAND, SATA, 2.5 Inch, Internal SSD).

    Re: Re:Installation of an SSD

Main sources of speed during editing are CPU and GPU, not disks.

Don't forget to update theCrucial firmware. If you already installed your programs some or all of them may be deleted. (Optional).
