PCTV DVB-T Stick on Windows 7?

Hello, I've received no reply from Pinnacle's email support system, so thought I'd ask here.  I've had a search round here, but couldn't find a clear answer to my question in any of the languages!

I've been running my PCTV DVB-T Stick (72e, apparently) for years on a Windows XP computer, but wanted to install it on a laptop running Windows 7 Pro.  My drivers appear to be up to date, but I get the message:

".NET Framework 2.0 is not installed. Please install .NET Framework 2.0!"

(.NET Framework 2.0 is installed! I believe it's part of Windows 7)

     and "PMCLoader.exe has stopped working".

Can I install it and get it to work on Windows 7, please?  I'm in the UK, if that makes any difference.

(And I understand most of the forum languages used on here, so don't let linguistic difficulties prevent you from posting!)

Here is support from microsoft: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=1639

I would right click on the icon for your PCTV on W7 and select "run compatibility"  and select Windows XP to see if it works.

Some older programs may or may not work well on W7 but I have noticed that they do work on W10 with some minor issues. I still use XP to do some edits on older programs.

Re: PCTV DVB-T Stick on Windows 7?

Thank you, R_Vera.  I'd forgotten about the compatibility settings, but they don't seem to make any difference - I still get the same two error messages.  I think I may try uninstalling and reinstalling the program, and see if that does any good.

But it's very strange: I managed to install the program easily enough on a Windows 7 Pro PC this afternoon, so obviously it's not simply the case that it doesn't work properly on Win 7.  I wonder what the difference is between the two machines?  It's not as if there are loads of SPs for Win 7.

Ah.  On reinstalling, I get a new error message: "Cannot create process: PMCLoader.exe".  I'll investigate that one further.

Maybe your PCTV is not compatible with Windows 7

Have you tried it by installing it as "run as administrator"

I believe the settings on my account *are* administrator-level, but I will check, just to be sure.

What I mean is open your installation disc and right click on "setup" and select "run as administrator". I have used this feature on W7 and W10 and sure works well with less problems on installation process.

Hi alywin, I too have PCTV DVB-T Stick 72e and it has been working well from my old Win XP computer up to the my last Win 10 pro PC (included Win 7 and 8).

Can you explain how are you proceeding to install the drivers?

What PCTV Center version  are you installing?

Ah, right, thanks.  Will try that.

manganio1: I'm not sure what version of TVCenter I'm running - where would I find that?  As for updating the drivers, I can't remember - I guess I probably went in through Device Manager, is it?  But thanks, it's good to know that someone's got it working on Win7 okay.

I've also realised that, being on Windows 7 Pro, I should be able to run XP programs on Windows Virtual PC, so am investigating that as well.

I've just tried that - I get the same error messages as I've mentioned above :-(

Here you're (see app): you can find the information in the TV Center settings window.

Click HERE and you can find the TV Center download page for drivers and applications.

Okay, that looks completely different from my one, even allowing for the language difference! I'll try and work out how it corresponds next time I have the XP computer on.

Re: PCTV DVB-T Stick on Windows 7?

From the link I provided you can download the latest TV Center application.

Installing TV Center you don't need to download and install the drivers: TV Center will provide for that installation.
