    Re-install Studio 14 Upgrade

I had to re-install the program because it quit working for some unknown reason.  I originally started with Studio Ver 9, upgraded to Ver 12, the upgraded to Ver 14.

When I am installing, and I have passed the point for previous version, the install manager asks for Disc 1 to be inserted.  All I have is the Install DVD, and no disc 1.  Could I have misplaced the disc 1?

Any help is appreciated.  I have re-installed Ver 12 with no problem.

What are your computer specs and OS?

Studio 9 is not compatible with Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8.

    Re: Re-install Studio 14 Upgrade

Studio 9 was the oldest version I have.   I am running Windows 7 64 bit, 6GB ram.  I previously had Studio 14 Upgrade installed (upgraded from Studio 12) and have used it in the past.  Recently, when trying to start the program, it acted like it was not installed.

When running the installation for Studio 14 upgrade, and, getting past the previous installation check, the program asks for Disc 1 to be inserted in the CD/DVD player.  All that I have found is the install disc.  It is possible I may have misplaced the disc 1.

I have Studio Ultimate Version 12 currently installed.

    Welcome to the Forum Smile

the program asks for Disc 1 to be inserted in the CD/DVD player.

That Error Message has been around since S10.

IMO, either an MSI (Microsoft Installer) or  Studio left-over Registry entries problem. Causes a lot of headaches when it crops-up.

I'll do a very quick Forum Search, for suggested fixes & add a Link to my Post, here.

ADDED - Search only returns your Post.

If you Post the "Exact" Error Message I/w might have more luck.

ADDED - Since I'm not around much these days, you can do the Search, by entering the Error Message, as per my Screenshot (Click on it, to Open it in a new Window & then expand it,, to view):

    Re: Re-install Studio 14 Upgrade

When installing, I get the prompt - Please insert the disk: 1

It will not accept the installer disk for this.

Here's a Link to an old Post of mine: http://forums.pinnaclesys.com/forums/permalink/519398/519398/ShowThread.aspx#519398. Try that, but Copy & Save the Pixie Folder first.

    1) I assume that's an "Upgrade" DVD

    2) S14 Standard & Plus only have one Disk. Ultimate has 2. Program DVD & 3Rd Party Plugins CD. The Error Message is erroneous.

    3) Copy the DVD to a New Folder in your Desktop & Run the Setup/Welcome EXE File from there. Try that.

    Re: Re-install Studio 14 Upgrade

The Pixie folders seems to have been the culprit.  I copied the upgrade disc to a folder on my desktop and installed from there as you suggested.  It installed with no problem.

    Thank you, Colour.

I just had a look at my PS14 Ultimate Collection box and it has only one disk. All the Red Giant stuff is located in \Studio\P2 and \Studio\P6 folders of the DVD.
