    Studio 11, video probs

    Hi,

I had a copy of Studio 11 Ultimate and I installed it on a friends laptop as I no longer use it.

    2 issues:

    1) I need to deregister the extra functions/packages so they can use them.

    2) the sound plays, but video doesnt move - just stays on first screen grab of video.

They are importing video from a HDD camcorder, and is the H264 video.  I kinda remember this being a prob, but its been a long time.

Any ideas what may be causing this ??

    I did download DIVX etc.

    Cheers.

Send a PM to Raff_Uy.  He should be able to help you with deactivating your registration.  As for problem #2, we need to know the specs of your friend's laptop.  It may not be powerful enough to edit AVCHD/ H.264 video.  BTW, S11 is not able to create menus on AVCHD/Blu-ray discs.

    Hi,

Cheers for the advice, I have messaged him.

With regards to the laptop, I will find out and post up on here.  But I am fairly sure it should be man enough.  She downloaded a patch and it started to work'ish, but then goes all laggy and gets slower and slower until it looks like a photo slideshow.!!

I should also probably explain the reasons for this.

My friend wants to edit video, and I recommended Studio, as its very easy.  She purchased 16, but thats a little too complicated, so I suggested my 11 - which she loved on my laptop.

Hence we are at this scenario.

If there is a better Studio package (but still as easy as 11) then please feel free to say, and I will try to get a copy for her.

I like a lot Studio 12 Ultimate. I have had no issues with it. I only do SD videos and have not done an HD video yet Big Smile

    The laptop spec is:

    Windows Vista, 32 bit

    Intel Dual CPU T3200 @ 2.00 ghz

    3.0gb RAM

Not sure what else is required.!

It was running Studio 16, but it was slightly too complicated, and the user preferred my Studio 11 (which I wasnt using as such).  So I am sure this is all more a plugin type problem.

    Any advice would be great.

    "Intel Dual CPU T3200 @ 2.00 ghz"

Your specs for High Def are low. You need at least 2.40 ghz.

So does that mean that she has no chance of this working?  Only when she had Studi 16 installed, it seemed to work fine, but was just a little too confusing to use.

She can also view the video in Media Player, and it works smoothly.

Is there a way in which she can convert it into an easier video file to use ??

Sorry for all the questions, but I am trying to resolve this for her ASAP.

    Many Thanks

    Re: Studio 11, video probs

Or is there a free video editing software that is okay to use.?

Only really need to trim clips, add fade in/out, titles, and then output to disc

    Re: Studio 11, video probs

Studio 16 is better optimised for working with h264 files, which might explain part of the problem. What format does the HD camera shoot in? That might not be compatable with S12

Yes, HD videos play on media playing software on lower powered computers. Media playing software doen't need to decode the video to the same level as an editing program.

If you convert the files to HD mpeg-2 they should be editable in S12. You can try to do this within studio itself.

Hi, I really need to keep it as simple as possible for the end user.

Just needs to import, trim, fade in/out, add photos, export.

Is there nothing else out there?

I'm not sure what you are asking for. You want a simple to use, free video editing package that works with H 264 video on an underpowered computer?
