    Missing project or empty timeline

I spent eight hours editing and then burned a copy to see how it looked. I went back and made a few changes. Next time I started Liquid 7.2 it started up then crashed. I restarted it and it gave me a message about starting with an empty project. I then tried to open my project from befiore and it opens and shows the clips but the timeline is empty.

Please tell me I haven't lost everything.

when liquid crashes, it opens a blank timeline. you should be able to open your sequence from the top right hand drop down box.

Did you mean top left? That drop down is empty. I also tried 'File' and "Open Project" it works for a couple of seconds then refreshes the screen with a blank timeline.

sorry..i guess the drop down box depends on what view you are on. you should be able to also navigate to the project browser, locate your sequence and then dbl click on the sequence to open it.

Hey it back .... I was trying to open the project again. I'm getting it now. It saves the timeline as a sequence. So opening the project doesn't always bring back the timeline you were working on?

Re: Missing project or empty timeline

You're correct. If Liquid crashes the system creates a blank sequence in the same project and opens up on it. You should be able to open the original sequence and then delete the blank.

When I start a project I rename the sequence to "Development" and at the end of each editing session I copy/Paste the sequence and rename the copy to PROD _"aabbcc" where a = month, b=day, c=year. That way I can always go back to the last session I created.

Of course after ending each sediting ession I also back up the project, from the manage projects menu.

But my point about renaming, is that I don't want the real sequence and the new blank sequence to have the same name. I may accidently delete the wrong one.

I try to use software development back up practices.

Thanks very much. I'm used to working in Newscutter. I'll get in the habit of saving regularly under different names as described. That sounds like a solid practice.
