Replacement for PCTV to Go wireless player that captures in mpg1

Dear Forum - I have been a long term user of the PCTV to Go wireless player. For 5 years I have captured TV episodes, cut out the commercials and placed the resulting mpg1 file on a network drive. From there I could stream the clip back to my TV without commercials. Finally the unit died :-(. I purchased a monsoon vulkano which captures video in mp4 format. My DVR doesn't recognize it. I tried converting the video to mpg2 which my DVr doesn't recognize. It can play the video but not the audio. Comverting to mpg1 from mp4 doesn't seem to work either with my converters. I tried AVI, mpg2, H264, TS - non are recognized by my DVR so I cannot stream my edits back to my TV. I am bummed. Do any of you know of a capture device that would capture the video directly to mpg1 (I know an old format) so I can continue to collect commercialess videos? Would the DAzzle capture device work?

I enjoyed the wireless capture but I am willing to dedicate a small laptop to wired capture if needed.

Thank you all for any help you can give.
