Re: Son of Show your Liquid Stuff...

Well I have been gathering material for this project for awhile and finally got some things together thought I would post a short segment and sort of see what yall thought before I got to far into it.This is a ww2 video I decided to make from and old audio recording of my grandfathers account of Germany.

I do realize that some of the clips don't fit exactly right yet this is the first run and the audio still needs more work .I have run the audio through sound booth several times and gotten rid of most of the hiss an about 9 zillion pops but I still have some noise.sounds like electrical hum with a wind blowing any suggestions on how to get rid of this would be appreciated.

I've actually made some very surprising discoveries while working on this project and hope to reveal them with the finished product

Fascinating work Alan, cleaning old audio is real difficult and I think that some of the noise has to be left, after all, people understands that it is an old film, you have done a great job so far, maybe you have taking away a little to much in some places, I can hear his voice changing in some phrases but to find the exacts spot and remove only the bad sound without affecting the sound you want to keep is real difficult, keep up the good work and keep us updated

Thomas you may be right I may have worked some of the audio too much or to close I may go back and redo this in the end

yes vo is him, my mother is driving me nuts right now she says he sounds like Donald duck in the recording

A few days ago I finally got my hands on a copy of original letter home that my gf sent my gm after reciving news my mother had been born

He had received the news in a foxhole and at time an didn't even know her name so he referred to her as "it"

I'm looking for the right vo talent right now and will include letter and period photos in video soon

Re: Son of Show your Liquid Stuff...

One of the issues with any sound program that removes noise is if you do too much at once the voice starts to sound mechanical or like they are in a tunnel. The best way to go is slowly small increments will prove to give the highest results but take a major amount of time. It would almost be better to leave some of the noise in with a piece like this as it add a feeling of reality tv to the voice. In any case this will be a great family remembrance........Good Luck ALAN.........Edd

Re: Son of Show your Liquid Stuff...

You might consider putting some sort of period music or patriotic score under the VO to help cover the dryness of the result. Just a thought......Edd

Re: Son of Show your Liquid Stuff...

I had thoughts tonight that I should just upload the whole vo track with what I have put together at this time in order to get more input from al7 users. If I do that am I giving his story away? to be used on U tube or where ever by any one? My main objective is to tell his story to the world,I  would love to share it with Liquid users first (in the making) . Before I go further should I get some kind of copy rite?? Not something I'm expecting to make a living off of but don't want NBC or CBS stealing my story either. At same time if either used it I would be very proud.

This story to me is like opening a treasure chest ,the deeper I look in the more I find.

Re: Son of Show your Liquid Stuff...

I've just completed a short video for an interesting group of people. Struggled with wind noise, it was shot in a very exposed location.

    Watch it on Vimeo here
