Ready to just give up and return it.

Studio Moviebox HD - 14 (white $99 version)

Everything works fine for me except my capture stream. It freezes after 15-45 seconds every time. It doesn't matter if I change the quality or frames per second. I don't know why this is doing this. My computer is a duo 2.0 GHZ/4 gb. This should be fine, but around the minimum for recording at high definition.

Technically it drops frames and when I try to use my webcam it drops 1k frames before it records 1 second of film, but my x box 360 stream lasts for 15-45 seconds and this is what I really need, but if I could fix my webcam to not drop frames it would probably help my x box 360 stream to last forever.

Should I just try a different company?

It drops 2 frames every time no matter what setting is at 26 seconds.

Re: Ready to just give up and return it.

The Pinnacle Studio products work well in everything save the capture task.  I have been through S11, S12 and S14 on multiple platforms and each version has exhibited aggrivating problems which render the capture aspect of the products unusable...  dropped frames, missing audio, no signal errors.. there is not room to continue.  I have and continue to use a bundled product from a company which was bought by Corel.. InterVideo WinDVD Creator with a ConvertX AV100U capture box.  Creator + the AV100U is the only combination which has, rain or shine, captured from my VHS/DVD player.  I need something to do that because some of my 'footage' is done on VHS-C and can't be 'downloaded' like my digital CamCorder can do.  Once the 'footage' has been written to disk, Creator is terminated and Studio is then used to 'massage' what I got.  There is nothing 'creative' about capturing from a VHS tape or DVD.  The creative part happens in the shooting and the editing.  Capture is simply porting information from one medium to another.  You don't "need" to use the same product for both capture and editing.  So Studio doesn't capture?  Screw it... find something... preferably cheap.. a program and device that does work... and don't bother yourself with whatever else it does or doesn't do.  Pop your tape in, start the process of tape to disk, go have a Coke or a beer and then come back after that part is over to use Studio for the 'real' work.

We have enough aggrivation with what the politicians are up to.  Don't add the simple process of capture to the mix.
