Audio and Video track don't move together on timeline

I know I should be ashamed to ask this one, but  here goes...

For the past months Video and Audio from an AVI file have been moving indepent of each other...  What did I do?  How can I change it back?

    What did I do?

My guess is that you have been working in yellow mode and made adjustments on your timeline somewhere to the left of the inserted avi file without having sync lock turned on and without having the correct tracks activated.

How can I change it back

In red mode, drag the audio to the left or right get the clip synced gain.

One thing to avoid probs like this in the future is to put your media to the timeline with enbedded audio, timeline settings " insert grouped "  and when and if you want to see the audio as separate, just uncheck that setting and go to command " disband clip ( s )  "

My Sync lock is on.   I'm in overwrite mode(red?)...

My video is still able to slide without the audio following...       How doI "put your media to the timeline with enbedded audio, timeline settings " insert grouped ' " ?

A search for " insert grouped "  gave me a hit on page 375 378 412 and 463 in the ref manual , well described I think.

You can also play a little with " autoselect linked items " described on page 439 and 440

THANKS for taking they time to look.   It was the Autoselect linked items.  The button has to be selected before putting clips on the timeline if you want that feature.  It's helpful, but only if you are conscious of how it works.  :)

Nice to be able to help and the search function from inside of Adobe reader is actually very good, I often use that one.

I´m almost sure that this workflow is very well described in Paul Ekerts manual for Liquid, also his recommendations to start with using enbedded audio.

Even if the audio becomes unlinked, you can select both the audio and video, right click and relink them.

That's my Problem with Liquid... It's so well designed and intuitive that I skip reading manuals often. . . :)

Re: Audio and Video track don't move together on timeline

MAybe you can help me. I am a litte lost and feel this should be real easy to do.

I have a two movie clips on time line.  I must have trimmed about 8 secs of the begiining of the first. I can drag the begiining to stretch it and see what I apparently trimmed, but when I let the mouse go it gos backed to the trimmed position.  How do I get it back?

Also how do I move these two clips to the right about 10 secs. Seems I should be able to use the hand and drag and drop them. Apparenetly that makes too much sense.

I am to the point of just gpoing and recording the clip again.. a real shame.

THANKS, for any help you can give.

    thanks

    jack

Re: Audio and Video track don't move together on timeline

Please don't double post. You never have to redigitize. Any changes you make on the timeline are non-destructive to the original clip. I don't really understand your first problem. I answered your second issue in your other post.

I suggest you pick up a copy of Paul Ekert's book on Liquid from Amazon. That should help you with these basics.

"Also how do I move these two clips to the right about 10 secs."

You need to be in Overwrite mode to move things around on the timeline.  It sounds like you are in Film mode.
