Dazzle output just keeps getting worse.
I'm having some problems with my Dazzle and I don't know what's causing them. When I got my Dazzle everything worked fine. I was using it with both Studio and Adobe Flash Media Encoder for recording and live streaming on justin.tv. I had no complaints about the quality. Then the video output be came very noticeably interlaced. I know it can't be a problem with the settings in the programs, because the quality is the same in Studio, FME, and HV Muticam. And I know it's not the input, because I've used multiple sources and the quality is the same. The thing that has remianed a constant in all of this the Dazzle itself. Last night I tried recording again to see if I could fix the interlacing somehow and now I can't get any audio. I have no idea why or what to do to fix this. I could use some help.

What software are you using to capture?

Pinnacle Studio
11.1, HV Muticam, and Adobe Flash Media Encoder for live streaming. All produce the same interlaced quality that wasn't initially there when I first started to use my Dazzle.

Do you still see the interlaced quality when you play your captured files on WMP? Any chance that you could provide us with a short sample clip that shows this problem?

Well
this
is what it looks like when I stream. It didn't used to look like that, but I haven't changed any settings in FME.

Thanks for providing the clip. I'll further investigate. Have you tried to reinstall the drivers? Have you installed any new codecs lately?

I've not installed any new drivers lately. The last time I tried installing a new sound driver my computer deleted the old one only to tell me the HP driver that HP told me to download was incompatible with my HP hardware and I wound up with no sound.

What version? It says DVC100 REV:1.1 on the back and it's red. Hope that answers that question. I'm also having some syncing problems. The video will speed up and slow down to fall in and out of sync with the audio frequently. This seems to be only a problem when I record using Studio.

Unstable recorder says a lot about how the Dazzle draws its power from your computer's USB port. Can you provide us your PC's specs?

So is there a way to make the recorder more stable? I just recorded about an hour of video and a lot of it out of sync.

Your hardware seems to be on the sufficient side. However, you could try and squeeze more performance by doing a clean boot. Also try to keep your portable plugged into the power source and set your power profile to Maximum performance. Let me know how that works out.

I changed my power settings and the problem seems to have worsened if anything.

Hmm.. Any chance that you could test the device on another computer just to further isolate the problem? You may have a faulty device.

Re: Dazzle output just keeps getting worse.
Could it have anything to do with the software? I've seen a guy use screen capture software to record his Dazzle's output in the preview window in Studio 10. My preview isn't as good as his. Mine is much more choppy even if that's not how it's recording.

I can't really tell. But it's a possibility. You could try to isolate it by trying the hardware with a completely different system. Not the easiest to do, but it'll be straight forward.
