Audio volume drops on one DVD player but not on another

Audio volume drops on one DVD player but not on another

I have made a DVD and when I play it back on my DVD player, at a certain point in the video, the volume of the overlayed audio suddenly drops (as if I had added a sharp volume fade).  I tried various things to remedy this - rendered the whole thing as an AVI and made a DVD from that, changed from MP2 to PCM audio, deleted auxiilary files and re-rendered....

I couldn't understand what was going on so played the DVD using Windows and it seemed OK (no volume drop).  So I tried it in another DVD player we have and it was OK on there too - it only seems to be a problem on the original DVD player I tried it on.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

    Cheers

IMO this is not possible with any Studio version I have encountered thus far - including S14.................... but I may be proven wrong yet.

I would be really interested to look at the mpeg stream you have created on that DVD - if you really want an answer that is the only way to analyze the situation.

You can use the wonderful Mpeg Inspector tool  to export a small "snippet" from around the known point where the alleged audio funkiness occurs - host it somewhere so somebody can download and look at the contents and perhaps we can solve the mystery.

Thanks for the reply - I will try it and have a go with the MPEG tool.

Re: Audio volume drops on one DVD player but not on another

Hi!   I did some more experimenting today and found out it was actually a setting on the TV - "AVL" which I presume is Auto Volume Level.  It always showed the problem after a sudden loud stab in the music.  After turning off the AVL setting on the TV, everything plays OK.  A case of the TV trying to be too clever!

Thanks for the help in here
