Creating multiple images in single frame for slideshow

    Hi folks -

Relative newbie with Studio 12 Plus - making simple family slideshows to burn to DVD.

I know how to transition between photos, but I would like to show multiple photos on the same view.  More specifically, I would like to show multiple photos, but with slightly different fade in/fade out timing.

    example:

transition to new frame - photo 1 appears (fades in).  1 second later, photo 2 fades in right next to photo 1.  After several seconds, photo 1 fades out, then 1 second later photo 2 fades out.  Black screen for fraction, then repeat, etc...

I'm sure this is simple, but not sure the easiest way to accomplish this.  I'm thinking it might have to do with Picture-in-Picture, but what if I'd like to show 4 or 5 images in the frame?

    Many thanks!

You can do this easily. Put pictures on both the Overlay and Video track while in Timeline mode (View ->Timeline mode). Then arrange them in the order you desire and follow the patter like the image below.

I agree with what Marc P. wrote.

You can change the size and position of your pictures using Picture in Picture. You can also add a third picture by dragging it to the 'Title' track, as long as it doesn't have an audio track. The Picture in Picture can be applied to all three tracks and transitions can be added to all three tracks.

Nice bonus on the third "hidden" track. Wink

The "2D Editor Advanced" FX feature can work like PIP and also allow one to crop or size the overlays more dynamically: rounded or softened edges, rotations, etc.

Hmm.. That one I have yet to use more often. Thanks for the tips, JKoch.
