AVID WON'T LET me ADD CLIPS TO TIMELINE; GRAY SLICES WONT RENDER after CRASH

Okay, using footage from canon Xh A1, which is a feat in itself. Won't even bore you with that two week episode.  Anyway, I am using a Gateway FX with 8GB RAM, QUAD CORE. My system has crashed a few times, and it seems directly related to Dekko pro. When I get my system rebooted, the "please register Dekko Pro" screen comes up when I go to add a title. Of course, its already registered, so I am assuming this is part of my issue.

Anywhooo...when I go to add clips to my project, the timeline will not accept any additions.I can delete previous clips, but nothing will add. The last time this happened, i had to completely uninstall then reinstall my software, which then of course wiped out the ability of my computer to recognize my DVD disc drives....and so on and so on....

Okay, just need to know what I can try to get the timeline to accept new clip...just discovered a clue: After the project restored, all my title sequences came back with GRAY SLICES which will not render. I am assuming I'll have to delete and recreate all the titles...?????

    Thanks!

Please clarify what you mean by "nothing will add". Are you seeing red slices (red bars at the top of the timeline) or is it something else?

Let´s take one thing at the time, and one subject per thread.

About your install probs, we of course cannot help you if you don´t tell what kind of system you are using, please add all those specs. as OS and video card, to your profile.

The dvd dissapearing thing points to that you are using Vista or W7, neither of them are certified but might work, have you followed the install thread?

and, grey slices aren´t supposed to be rendered, have you read the manual.

I solved the issue. Yes, i read the manual. Basically was inserting TITLES on the main VIDEO timeline, and by moving them to VIDEO 2/ overlay track got it to work. All is well. I am running 8GB RAM, over 600 GB HDD, and am using footage from the Canon XH A1 which has been giving me innumerable issues. My next hurdle is export to tape, but I won't bore you with that.
