I'm just curious.......
I've recently upgraded from a Core2 Duo based system running XP to a i7 950 based system with 6GB RAM and 4 SATA drives as a RAID 10 array running Windows 7 (64 bit).
On the old system Studio 12 would max out the CPU when working with AVCHD files - it got the job done in the end but I'd often have to leave it alone for a while whilst it got on with it. Obviously it couldn't go any faster as the CPU was the "bottle neck".
On the new system Studio 12 works fine, but I expected it to be much quicker. It is slightly quicker than the old system and the system is much more responsive whilst its rendering but it's only using 15 to 40% of the CPU, 10 to 50 % of the maximum hard drive throughput and less than 1GB of RAM.
Any ideas why Studio isn't working the system harder so that it can render faster?
